Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom and Wisconsin's Jordan Taylor were among a group of six guards working out for the Bucks on Sunday at the Cousins Center. Johnson-Odom revealed he received some friendly advice Saturday night from Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant. The advice came in a text message not long after Durant scored 18 of his 36 points in the final 7 minutes of the Thunder's 109-103 playoff victory over the San Antonio Spurs. "I have a good friend in Kevin Durant and texted him last night about the game," Johnson-Odom said. "He texted me back as soon as he got it. "He said, 'It's going to be hectic this month. You've just got to stay focused and stay faithful.' He said, "It will all work out for you.' I'm able to talk to him. He's helping me out because he likes my game and he likes the person I am." Darius Johnson-Odom: I know what the Knicks need, so I came in with a defensive mindset. With Iman being out, with Baron [Davis] being out, I know that they need somebody who can step up and play D. Everybody knows I can score the ball; that's the least of my worries. But I want to be a player that impacts the team on defense. That's going to be my main focus throughout these workouts. If that means me playing seven minutes in the league and guarding the best player, that's what I'm willing to do. ESPN.com |
