Kahn declined to discuss the futures of such players as Darko Milicic, Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph and Martell Webster. Beasley and Randolph will become unrestricted free agents if the team doesn't pick up rich qualifying offers for each of them. Webster's $5.7 million option for next season can be spent more wisely, and Milicic almost certainly has played his last game for Adelman. Minneapolis Star-Tribune When asked if the Wolves will use their one-time amnesty clause to waive Milicic and take his $5 million salary off their salary cap, Kahn said: "It's not appropriate to use one name. We're coming off a season; it's Day 1. All those questions have a more appropriate time to be answered, and that's much deeper into the summer." Minneapolis Star-Tribune |

Milicic has played in only one of the Wolves' past 12 games -- he started March 18 at Sacramento -- and clearly has become the last player on Adelman's bench, even if he doesn't always sit there. The team said he didn't make the trip because of a right hamstring strain. Adelman recently said he has little faith playing Milicic, partly because he has not kept himself in shape while he was not playing like teammates Anthony Tolliver and Wayne Ellington did. "He hasn't done anything to really give you a lot of faith that he's going to go out and do the job," Adelman said of Milicic. "He's gotten himself out of shape. He hasn't been as driven as you'd like so when a situation like this happens, it's time for someone to have their opportunity and get back in there. Today, [Williams] going to get his chance and Anthony Randolph is going to get his chance and we'll see if any of those guys can step up." Minneapolis Star-Tribune |

You gonna make me guess? Joe Dumars: There are two I wish I could take a mulligan on. Because we all make mistakes in this business. Q. OK, Darko (Milicic) is one. Joe Dumars (Dumars slaps table affirmatively). I'm gonna leave it there. Detroit News |

Wolves center Darko Milicic made Deadspin the other day when the sports gossip website picked up a blog posting from former Memphis Grizzlies teammate Casey Jacobsen, who wrote that Milicic once told him he doesn't believe in investing all those millions of dollars he has made. Milicic confirmed some of that notion before Friday's game. "Better to spend your money on something or somebody who needs it than lose it," said Milicic, who has paid for Serbian children to travel to China for stem-cell treatment to combat Batten's disease. ![]() Adelman sounded as though he's getting a little frustrated with Milicic. "Sooner or later, they play or they don't play," he said. "You have to play with the people you have who are healthy. He's been really up and down, and has had different injuries." Minneapolis Star-Tribune |

![]() Casey Jacobsen: It's nearly impossible to explain the weirdness that is Darko, but he told me one time that he did not keep his money in any bank, nor did he invest in stocks or bonds. "I just keep it," he told me and then turned away. Looking back, I should have asked a follow-up question. I don't know if I believe him, but he was making over $6 million that season. That's a lot of cheddar to stash underneath a mattress! On another note… that was easily the longest conversation we ever had, and that was how he preferred it. SLAM |

This season, though, there hasn't been much to see from Milicic. His scoring is down from last season, from 8.8 to 5.9 points per game, and so are his minutes. He's seemed lost at times —in four games, he's played without scoring a point — but has still started each of the Timberwolves' 18 games this season. His team needs him as its big man inside, and Milicic must find a solution to his issues on offense. What he has so far is only an explanation, though, a way to rationalize his struggles. "I'm just a defensive guy, a defensive player," Milicic said. "That's what I do." Fox Sports North |

The Wolves might be a terrible team but they don't currently have any egregious contracts on their books. Darko haters may beg to differ, but the Wolves still believe in the enigmatic big man from Serbia. Although management might privately acknowledge that the nearly $15 million he's owed over the next three seasons is high, Minnesota likewise believes it would miss Darko's interior presence and shot-blocking ability on a nightly basis. And who would replace him? ESPN.com |

Emiliano Carchia: Nikola Pekovic said that Darko Milicic has no intention of playing overseas during NBA lockout. Milicic is fishing, one of his main hobbies. Darko Milicic, who is a big fan of Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) also took part at a fishing competition in France without any good result. "Few days ago we were together. As I know, he doesn't want to play during the NBA lockout" said Nikola Pekovic about Darko Milicic Twitter |

Timberwolves assistant general manager Tony Ronzone has left the organization. Known for his international-scouting connections, he was hired in spring 2010 just about the time Fred Hoiberg was headed for Iowa State's head-coaching job and had a voice in personnel moves that included drafting Wes Johnson and Derrick Williams as well as trading away Al Jefferson, acquiring Michael Beasley and re-signing center Darko Milicic. Now, with the NBA lockout nearly at the four-week mark, Milicic would seem to be a good candidate to look for a contract in one of Europe’s top leagues. But, with three years left on his Timberwolves contract, that’s not happening. “We're no exploring it,” Milicic’s agent, Marc Cornstein, told Sporting News on Wednesday. “Because he is under contract, because he has three years left, it’s a totally different scenario than for some other players who are free agents.” Sporting News “He’s not looking to do anything with it right now,” Cornstein said. “As time goes on and if it looks like maybe there won’t be a season, that could change. Maybe a situation will present itself. But that’s something that would happen down the road.” Sporting News |

![]() Fifth in the league in blocked shots, Milicic is finishing a season interrupted by nagging injuries and beset by turnovers that nonetheless he says leaves him encouraged about his future with the team. "It wasn't great, but it was OK," he said. "I feel much more comfortable playing basketball. I think this is the first season where I really believed somebody, really believed the people here. I think it's the first time I'm really looking forward to next season." Minneapolis Star-Tribune Asked if he still sees Milicic as the team's center of the future, he paused and said, "There's a lot of potential on this team, there's an awful lot of potential on this team. But there's a tremendous amount of youth on this team, too. It's going to take a while for some of these players to blossom into the players they can be." A season ago, the Wolves won 15 games. This season, they've won 17 and are tied with Cleveland for the league's worst record. "This is tough, losing's tough," Milicic said. "We all said at the beginning of the season that we don't want to go through this again, like last year. But we did almost the same thing again. "For next season, I'm not going to say anything, what we're going to do or what we're not going to do." Minneapolis Star-Tribune |
