Arash Markazi: Darren Collison is opting out of the 2nd year of his 2-year contract, I'm told. He'll test free agency but hopes to stay with the Clippers. Darren Collison wants to stay in L.A. but he certainly played himself into more money and more security than a 1-year, $1.9 million option. Twitter @ArashMarkazi

As Griffin himself would explain, the mental part of his process is coming along quite well. The player who is so often guilty of being a cliché machine had a revealing moment when asked about the support he gets from teammates and coaches, one that bodes so very well for him and the Clippers going forward. "Whether you believe it or not, every NBA player deals with confidence issues at times," Griffin said. "Before every game, to hear CP, Jamal, (DeAndre Jordan), Matt (Barnes), (Darren Collison), on down the line to our whole coaching staff say, 'Go attack, go score, go do what you do' is a confidence builder. That gets me into the game. "Even when I'm missing shots and they still say that, sometimes I want to be like, 'Man, you guys do it for a little bit,' (laughs) but that's huge man. It's encouraging. I think it's big for our team." USA Today Sports

While Shumpert's injury did not deter the Thunder, it did kill the Knicks' hopes of sending him to Los Angeles. Clippers coach Doc Rivers really wanted Shumpert, sources say, and Rivers was willing to do a deal that would have sent Darren Collison, Matt Barnes, Byron Mullens and two second-round picks to New York for Shumpert, Felton and Beno Udrih. But Clippers owner Donald Sterling and others within the organization were hesitant to bet on Shumpert after seeing him go down in Wednesday's game at New Orleans, according to sources. ESPN.com

Carmelo Anthony said last week that he was very interested in re-signing this offseason as long as the Knicks showed him a strong plan to become a title contender again. Making a big splash prior to the trade deadline would have been one way to impress Anthony. A source familiar with the circumstances said New York was "close" to a deal that would have brought a much-needed point guard Darren Collison and forward Matt Barnes in exchange for point guard Raymond Felton and shooting guard Iman Shumpert. But it didn't happen. The Knicks' brass might have to work some magic on draft night to impress Anthony before free agency begins. Yahoo! Sports

The New York Knicks are still trying to complete a trade for Los Angeles Clippers point guard Darren Collison before Thursday's trade deadline, according to sources close to the talks. But sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that the talks had been tabled until Thursday, which is Deadline Day in the NBA. The league's annual trade buzzer sounds at 3 p.m. ESPN.com

After several rounds of negotiations, the Clippers and Knicks abandoned discussions on a proposed trade centered around Shumpert earlier on Wednesday, league sources said. The Knicks had interest in bringing back Clippers point guard Darren Collison and rookie Reggie Bullock as part of a package, but wanted Los Angeles to accept Raymond Felton in the deal, sources said. The Clippers resisted the Felton element of the deal, and were reluctant to part with Bullock or any draft picks in talks, sources said. Clippers general manager and coach Doc Rivers has been determined to upgrade athleticism on the wings and sees Shumpert as a player who can complement J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley. Redick is expected to miss a month with a back injury. Yahoo! Sports

Talks at this point are not in advanced stages, with one source describing the deal as "a possibility." The teams have been talking since Friday. A source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN that the Clippers have been reluctant to part with Bullock, their first-round draft pick from last year, who is being asked to play a larger role with starting guard J.J. Redick lost indefinitely to a back injury. Adding Shumpert would help somewhat, as he would slide into Redick's starting role and allow Sixth Man of the Year candidate Jamal Crawford to go back to his reserve role. ESPN.com
