Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, however, sat in a small room in the Palace of Auburn Hills signing the pages of the contract, relieved he could soon fax them to the NBA to make it official. “Given our goals the past few years to get a guy to build around and the stops and starts toward that, until it’s signed and done, you’re always nervous until it finalizes,” Morey said. “There’s relief on all sides. Obviously, we’re up against the (Wednesday) deadline and signing him right before the game. We felt pretty comfortable he was going to be here long-term one way or another, either today or we would have finalized it after the season.” Houston Chronicle |
