The San Antonio Spurs will likely move forward DeJuan Blair close to the deadline, ultimately accepting the best final offer for him, sources said. Blair has wanted a trade for more than a year, and clearly will not re-sign with the Spurs as a free agent this summer. Yahoo! Sports Spurs forward DeJuan Blair has seen his name in nearly every speculative trade story that has hit the Internet since All-Star weekend, but his approach to Thursday’s trade deadline is educated indifference. “I’m not really worried about any of that,” said the four-year forward from Pittsburgh. “I’m just worried about right now and today. All the rest of that is BS.” San Antonio Express-News “I’m not sweating nothing,” he said. “If I get traded, I do. If I don’t, I don’t. I’m not mad or anything because everybody knows what I can do, given the time and opportunity. So I’m just going to keep working, keep my mind clear and not worry about all that trade talk. If my agent doesn’t tell me, or the Spurs don’t tell me, I know it’s just BS, people saying where they think I should go or what would be a good fit. San Antonio Express-News |

It’s no surprise that DeJuan Blair may be moved prior to the trade deadline on February 21. The San Antonio Spurs have been shopping him for quite some time, and nearly traded him in June. In the days leading up to the 2012 NBA Draft, the Spurs spoke to a number of teams about the 23-year-old big man. They nearly sent Blair to the Miami HEAT, but the deal fell apart. Now, San Antonio is once again shopping Blair and seeing what teams are willing to offer. HoopsWorld Steve Kyler: Spurs' Aron Baynes signing signals the end of the road for Dejaun Blair. ![]() Blair took his frustrations to Twitter after taking a DNP in the Spurs’ season opener at New Orleans. Then, he took his frustrations out on the practice court. “DeJuan’s been very professional,” Popovich said. “I haven’t played him very much at all, and he stayed in shape and ready to go. He’s part of this team, and he’s not going to let anything get him down.” San Antonio Express-News “When you see DeJuan, you always see a smile on his face,” said Hill, who had 15 points and six assists in his return to the AT&T Center. “He’s a high-spirited person, trying to think positive.” San Antonio Express-News Jeff McDonald: Manu says he didn't see Blair's Twitter vent: "I think he's more mature. He grew up. it's his 4th year. He's going to have opportunities." Twitter @JMcDonald_SAEN |

But among the jokes and re-tweets were a couple of comments that left plenty of room for interpretation: DeJuan Blair: @DeJuan45 This is wat I expected! Lol I'm just not wat dude wants out there it just hit me!! And that's respect! Just KNO I'm doing my part! #SALUTE. DeJuan Blair: @DeJuan45 I'm just joking ill b good somebody out there likes wat I do!!!! BELIVE that! Ok I'm out bout ta b (cont) tl.gd/jrkcu0. “Dude” is presumably Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, who saddled Blair with his fifth DNP-CD (coach’s decision) in nine games dating back to last year’s playoffs. Blair, a starter in 62 of 66 games during the regular season, saw his role evaporate in the postseason, leading many observers — including Blair himself — to believe the undersized power forward from Pittsburgh was on the trading block. ![]() But the tight tops most Spurs are sporting this fall aren’t for showing off. Rather, they have little pockets for electronic monitors that measure data such as heart rate and oxygen uptake. Being skin-tight literally puts them close enough to the skin to record desired metrics. In Blair’s case, nothing the monitors reveal has the visceral effect of seeing his flat belly, replete with muscle definition. Some of his teammates insist he’s gotten skinny. “I’ve been getting that a lot,” Blair said after a Monday morning practice session. “But I don’t take that to my head because I’m never skinny. I’m still DeJuan. Still big.” San Antonio Express-News Blair often has tried the patience of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who openly questioned whether the 6-foot-7 center had the discipline to condition himself enough to optimize his skills. What Popovich has seen thus far has encouraged him. “DeJuan’s had an excellent camp,” he said. “He’s been active at both ends of the floor. He’s trying to make better decisions and do what’s best for the group. His energy, his defense, his rebounding, those sorts of things, he’s really concentrated on — running the floor and working on being a more disciplined player.” San Antonio Express-News |
