DeMar said he still didn’t know the ins and outs of the agreement, “I want to go over it with some of my NBA peers and see what they think about it.” “It was a shocking 3:00 AM call,” said Young. “I don’t know how my mom was up that late but she called me and I gotta answer when she called. I was a little nervous, I though she called for something else but I was excited. “I can’t wait. Especially coming off the year that I had,” continued Young. “[I'm] very motivated and confident and happy that’s back. I was a little scared that we weren’t going to have a season this year. And the charity games keep on rolling in as we wait for lockout negotiations to start up again. Baron Davis and Tina Thompson will be hosting one in Los Angeles this Sunday at Southwest College benefitting the Kids in LA Sports Foundation. On the list to play are some guys with Los Angeles ties — Paul Pierce, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Trevor Ariza, DeMar DeRozan, Nick Young, Darren Collison, Arron Afflalo and the Collins brothers Jarron and Jason. DeMar DeRozan was on Sportsnet 590 earlier today – with Paul Jones and me – and he broke the news that he has been considering the possibility of organizing a charity game in Toronto at some point in the next month. Details are limited at this point, but DeRozan told us that he and Raptors teammate, Amir Johnson, recently discussed the idea and they are meeting tomorrow or Friday to figure out the details and determine if this event could fly or not. I spoke to Durant, Ime Udoka and DeMar DeRozan on Thursday after they finished playing some full-court runs at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. They said they still believed in Fisher and they all felt the players have already given enough in stating their willingness to drop from 57 percent in the old agreement to a proposal to go to 52.5, and they don't want to go any lower. "I'm all for standing up for what you believe in," Durant said. "I think that's what we're doing as a union. We're playing in these games, these charity games, because we love what we do. We're not going out here getting insurance, we're not going out here getting paid. We love the game. Guys can get hurt playing in these games. But people don't see that." ESPN.com

DeRozan said he had faith in Fisher and the union and was predisposed toward following any proposal submitted to him by the union. "I trust Derek and everyone who's working for us. They feed us with information about everything that's going on. If he told me [he had a deal he liked], I'm definitely going to trust his judgment." But like Harden, DeRozan flatly rejected the idea that a 50-5o split in BRI was acceptable. When asked whether he'd reconsider an even split if that was the proposal presented to the players by their leadership, DeRozan reacted as if it were a trick question. ESPN.com

But apparently, the battle for bragging rights was enough to convince Gay that he would participate in the next show to determine which coast has the best players. After weeks of wrangling and tense negotiations, the Goodman League-Drew League rematch will finally take place on Sunday at Long Beach State University and Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawls confirmed that Gay would join forces with Durant, Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Michael Beasley, Sam Young and Donte Greene. Gay, Durant and Wall are also expected to participate in another exhibition game hosted by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Saturday at Florida International University in Miami, but Rawls said all three would complete the difficult back-to-back set. They will meet a fired-up Drew League team eager for revenge and featuring Harden, Jennings, Nick Young, Derrick Williams, DeMar Derozan, Dorell Wright, Craig Smith, Marcus Banks and Ryan Hollins. Roth said via telephone Tuesday night he was unaware of any such meeting.] But Smiley said he hopes the game will happen Oct. 1. Smiley said the proposed game would feature mostly high school, college and pro players who are L.A. natives. Although he doesn't have a confirmed list, Smiley sounded confident that Drew League regulars such as Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan, Oklahoma City's James Harden, Sacramento's Pooh Jeter, the Clippers' Craig Smith, Washington's JaVale McGee and Nick Young, and Golden State's Dorell Wright would make up part of the roster. What about overseas? Is that an option for you or is that not something you’re considering? DeMar DeRozan: It’s definitely an option. If it goes to where it looks like it’s going to be longer than what we think it is, it’s definitely an option. Just go over there and play basketball and then whenever the lockout is over, come back. The Score

How did you feel when you heard that Sonny [Weems] was heading to Lithuania for the season because of this lockout? DeMar DeRozan: I was definitely happy for him because he’ll get an opportunity to play, but it’s funny. Last night my cousins were playing a game and I had realized like, man, if the lockout is over I’m not going to have my man Sonny out there playing with me. I think it hit me just last night that. Like, that’s not my teammate, I probably won’t be playing with him. You know what I mean? It was definitely crazy. It was crazy stuff. My cousins were playing a [video] game and they were playing with the Raptors. And it was just funny because it was like, ‘Hey, next year my man ain’t going to be on the team with me anymore.’ The Score

Is it similar to Kevin Garnett because he has that reputation for being such an intimidat– DeMar DeRozan: Yeah, but Kevin Garnett’s got a dirty mouth (laughs). HM: Yeah? Go ahead, what were you going to say? DeMar DeRozan: (still laughing) I was just going to say, Kevin Garnett, he just don’t stop. Whatever you can think of, that’s what he says. The Score
