Durant and DeMarre Carroll got into it again tonight. Carroll hip-checked Durant with 5:47 left in the third quarter. Durant took exception. Then Westbrook took exception. Westbrook ran over and elbowed Carroll in the chest. Those two then started talking smack. The irony of the whole thing was that Carroll did to Durant exactly what he didn’t appreciate Durant doing to his buddy Burks back in Utah a month ago. Check the 2:30 mark here. Oklahoman

Durant: “I was just trying to get my teammate away from it all. I seen Russ over there by himself. That was the first thing I was concerned with. It was a hard foul. That’s it. I did the same thing to one of their guys in Utah so I couldn’t be too upset about it. I was just running over there to get Russell. I seen him in a see of blue of Utah guys. So I just tried to go over there and get him out of that because I knew he came to my rescue there as well.” Oklahoman

When Durant threw a block into Alec Burks and was called for his first career flagrant foul with 6:06 left in the Jazz’s 109-94 win, Carroll responded. Carroll walked over to Durant and said something to him. Durant responded, and players from both teams gathered around. The confrontation did not escalate, although Carroll and Durant received technical fouls. Said Carroll: "I just told him, ‘Don’t be playing dirty out here. If you’re going to play dirty, play dirty in the park. We’re not going to be playing dirty out here.’ " Salt Lake Tribune

Carroll said he was simply coming to the aid of a teammate. "Burks is a young guy," Carroll said. "He really ain’t going to stand up for himself so ... I know I might not have all the money to give away but, hey, I’ll take a stand for my man Burks." Durant was clearly frustrated by what at the time was a 17-point deficit. "He told me, ‘Get out of my face with that,’ " Carroll said. "I was like, ‘It is what it is.’ " Salt Lake Tribune

DeMarre Carroll: Future coach: "It's probably got to be Earl Watson. He always goes in with us in the second unit, and we're a young second unit. He's always trying to come up with little nicks and nacks that we can use. He's helped me. The biggest thing with me, he just tells me that I'm so athletic and I should run and get easy baskets, because for my size I'm one of the fastest guys in the league." ESPN.com
