![]() Lakers forward Devin Ebanks got banged hard outside an L.A. nightclub ... when another car reversed into the luxury ride he had JUST gotten into -- and TMZ got video of the LOUD collision. Ebanks walked out of Greystone Manor last night, hopped into the passenger side of a friend's Mercedes sedan, and seconds later ... a huge CRASH ... as a Lexus smashed into them! TMZ.com It's unclear if Ebanks was injured, but the smash-up is way more action than the bench player saw in the Lakers' short playoff run. TMZ.com |

The Lakers have three unrestricted free agents in Earl Clark, Antawn Jamison and Howard. The team can also make Darius Morris, Robert Sacre, Andrew Goudelock and Devin Ebanks restricted free agents in July. Ebanks isn't likely to get a qualifying offer from the team, which would make him unrestricted. Los Angeles Times |

Kevin Ding: Fan yells: "I love you, Mike D'Antoni!" Devin Ebanks laughs. Jordan Hill shakes his head. Twitter @KevinDing The Lakers won't have much clarity elsewhere. They could use the amnesty provision on Bryant ($30.5 million), Gasol ($19.9 million), World Peace ($7.7 million) or Blake ($4 million). World Peace might opt out of his player option in hopes for a longer but less expensive contract, although that runs the risk of the Lakers letting him walk. The Lakers also will have expiring contracts to Antawn Jamison, Clark, Morris, Goudelock, Robert Sacre and Devin Ebanks, although the latter is sure to leave considering he's rarely played all season. Gasol isn’t the only player the Lakers have explored moving, sources near the situation say the Lakers would like to open up a roster spot to add a new player or two so don’t be surprised if guys like Jordan Hill, Devin Ebanks, Darius Morris or Darius Johnson-Odom are moved in exchange for a backup point guard or a second round draft pick in order to open a spot for the Lakers to sign one. So until then, the experiments will continue. Metta World Peace might start as a small forward one night or come off the bench as a power forward as he did Tuesday. Devin Ebanks might start the first half, come out after five minutes, then never get off the bench. Antawn Jamison might star one night, then take a DNP-CD as he did against the Bobcats. D'Antoni might play 10 guys or seven. "We're all basketball players," Bryant said. "We moved Metta down to the 4, but he's a basketball player. He does everything anyway." But can't experimenting become unsettling? "Yeah, but the thing about Mike that's different from a lot of coaches is when you get your minutes, you have the green light to be aggressive," Bryant said. "It's not like you go in there for four or five minutes and you're reluctant to shoot to be aggressive. You have the green light. Antawn didn't play tonight but when he gets in there he'll have the green light to shoot and be aggressive, same thing with Devin. So it's not like we can't get in rhythm." ESPN.com |

Under typical circumstances, when a player signs as a free agent over the summer, they cannot be traded until Dec 15. Now that that date has been reached, the Lakers are now able to deal most of their free-agent acquisitions. This isn't to suggest the Lakers are actually looking to make any specific moves, but technically Jodie Meeks and Antawn Jamison are now trade eligible. Additionally, Devin Ebanks and Darius Morris can be dealt but under the strict rules of the league's collective bargaining agreement, both have the right to block any trade after signing one year-deals (with Bird or Early Bird Rights upon completion). Another wrinkle to the equation is Jordan Hill, who can't be dealt until Jan. 15 after getting a raise greater than 20% from the Lakers. Los Angeles Times |

L.A. Lakers star Devin Ebanks isn't out of the woods yet ... despite being cleared in a rape investigation last year -- because the woman who accused him of sexual assault has now filed a civil lawsuit. The woman -- who filed the lawsuit anonymously in L.A. County Superior Court -- claims Ebanks forcibly penetrated her vagina with his penis after taking her home from a nightclub in September 2011. Ebanks, 23, sat out the last six games because he did not fit into Coach Mike D'Antoni's plans. It could change, but for now, Ebanks is on the outside. Way outside. "Can't do nothing about it," Ebanks said Friday. "It's a coach's decision. I've just got to keep working and stay professional. It's the way Mike D'Antoni wants to run things right now. I'm just going to be there supporting my teammates." Normally an active Twitter contributor, Ebanks hasn't added to any of his 12,178 tweets since Nov. 8, the day before his arrest. A post on his Twitter account that afternoon encouraged his followers to celebrate a woman's birthday that night at Roxbury nightclub near Hollywood. Los Angeles Times |

So the coaching staff has been pushing him to be more assertive? "It's my kids, my mom," Jamison said. "Nah, the coaches, they know what they want me to do. Coach has tried to get me on the box a little bit more in the past game or two. It's going to take time." It's apparently going to take even longer for Meeks, who has been pushed toward the end of the bench with Coach Mike Brown designating Devin Ebanks as Kobe Bryant's primary backup at shooting guard for the next few weeks. A bad sign for Meeks: He played only four minutes against Detroit, and that was with the Lakers holding leads as large as 36 points. "It's disappointing because everyone wants to play," said Meeks, who has made two of seven shots, including two of five from three-point range, and is averaging 2.0 points in 7.3 minutes per game. "But there's really nothing I can do. Right now it's just out of my control and his decision." Los Angeles Times |

MT: Finally, do you have any quick hitters of things that stood out in training camp? Kupchak: I think you saw some flashes of good play from Jodie Meeks, both with his shooting and the other things he can do like get to the bucket to draw fouls and play defense. I think Devin Ebanks had a good preseason and continues to develop. Sacre has been a pleasant surprise. And with Antawn Jamison, I've seen no decline in his athleticism, which you wonder about when you get older guys. NBA.com |
