Fear not, Jazz fans. GM Kevin O'Connor is exploring ways to move up in the draft. They have the Warriors' pick in 2013 (top-six-protected) and veterans like Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson and Devin Harris, and they might even be willing to add another young player (as long as you don't ask for Derrick Favors or Enes Kanter). The question is, how high can they go? Their presumed target is Weber State's Lillard. They need a point guard and know him better than any team in the league. But if they could get higher and get an even better prospect, they would. They like Beal and Kidd-Gilchrist a lot, too. ESPN.com

In the middle of the season when the shots weren't falling and he was struggling on the court, Devin Harris was the subject of some trade rumors. But not from the Utah Jazz. "Not by us, not by us," Utah Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin insisted Tuesday. Right now, the Jazz couldn't be happier with Harris, who has been one of the team's most consistent players since the All-Star break. He has almost single-handedly willed the Jazz to a couple of victories, including Monday night's come-from-behind win over San Antonio. Deseret News

But while he’s happy to be in Utah, Harris said there’s no ill will toward the Nets. “The whole time I was here was fun,” he said. “I can remember the first time I got here, played that game. Throughout all the highs of the All-Star year through the lows of only winning 12 games [in 2009-10], it’s all a great learning experience and I enjoyed every minute of it.” Bergen Record

Corbin ran through the list Friday: pushing the offensive tempo, being aggressive with the ball in the open court, and manning up against defenders. Harris said he’s fully aware of Corbin’s requests, and he’s doing his best to fulfill the demands. "I’m just trying to work to get better," said Harris, before a game Friday against the Dallas Mavericks. "Obviously, I can’t be happy with the way I’ve been performing lately. I’m just focusing on being effective. They want me to push the ball more; I’ve got to play more in transition. And that’s what I’m trying to focus on doing." Salt Lake Tribune

Corbin has done his best to downplay reports the Jazz are shopping veteran point guard Devin Harris. The latest outbreak of trade talk came after Harris went 0-for-7 from the field and scored one points in Thursday’s 94-91 loss to Dallas. “Everybody misses shots,” Corbin said. “You look at the stats and say, ‘A guy isn’t making as many shots or scoring the way he has in the past.’ But our team is moving forward and we will continue to move forward. “We like Devin. He’s a part of what we’re doing. He’s a member of our family and we’re going to continue to work at it. … As long as we continue to work and stay together, we have a chance to win.” Salt Lake Tribune

Having been dealt three times in his eight-year career — from Washington (draft) to Dallas to New Jersey to Utah — Harris brushed off the trade talk. He repeated "been there, done that" three times when asked different questions about the rumor. "It's not something you can control," Harris said. "I've been to that point where you worry about it (and wonder), 'Is it what I'm doing?' You can't control it, so you can't worry about it." Deseret News

Jazz center Al Jefferson hadn't heard about Harris' rumor, but he knows the point guard expects that through the March 15 trade deadline. "You just can't worry about it," Jefferson said. "When nobody wants you, that's when you need to be a little nervous." Deseret News

The Jazz have made it known that point guard Devin Harris is available via trade, according to front-office sources. Of all the pieces Utah acquired from New Jersey at the 2011 trade deadline for face of the franchise Deron Williams, none of those assets has declined in value like Harris, who made the Eastern Conference All-Star team in his first season in New Jersey but now averages just 8.1 points and 4.6 assists for the Jazz while shooting 35 percent from the field. He has struggled so badly that there's a rising clamor in the SLC for Earl Watson to replace Harris as Utah's starter. ESPN.com

Harris didn't help matters in Thursday night's TNT-televised showdown with his old friends from Dallas, lowlighting an 0-for-7 shooting performance with a badly wide airball from 3 in the heart of crunch time. But you can safely assume that Utah won't struggle to find a taker before the March 15 trade deadline, given that Harris only turns 29 next month and has a very movable contract with only next season remaining at $8.5 million. The Lakers would surely have interest, desperately needing an injection of speed in their backcourt, but the $8.9 million trade exception L.A. created by dealing Lamar Odom to Dallas isn't big enough to accommodate Harris' current $9.5 million salary.
