The Toronto Raptors announced Monday they have signed free-agent point guard D.J. Augustin (aug-us-TEEN). Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Adding a young, experienced point guard to our roster was one of our objectives going into this off-season,” said Raptors President and General Manager, Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri. “D.J. will provide experience and give us depth in the backcourt.” Raptors.com

“I went up to contest the shot and I think that he purposely threw an elbow at me knowing that I was coming,” Horford said. “He hit me in the groin area. It was very painful. He hit me and it as a natural instinct as I was going for the block to put me hands down and I guess I hit him in the head. It was a very dirty play by him. I’m obviously upset about the call. I understand that they are at home. The crowd is against the refs and they have peer pressure on them so they couldn’t let it slide. Augustin, according to Vogel, has found his shooting stroke again. "He hasn't missed a shot since he came out of the lineup," Vogel said. "Honest to God, (team President) Donnie Walsh and I were laughing about it the other night, noticing it. Indianapolis Star

After watching his bench fall on its face on a regular basis by losing any momentum the starting unit put together, Vogel decided it was time for a change. And it's at backup point guard. Vogel demoted D.J. Augustin to third string and replaced him with Ben Hansbrough as the second unit's point guard Monday. "I think D.J. has been in a slump this year," Vogel said. "Our bench as an unit has been struggling. D.J. is not in any way solely responsible, but I don't want to change the whole bench and throw everybody upside down. We'll change one part and see if it has any impact." Indianapolis Star
