Hawks' forward Elton Brand, a good friend of Deng, said he was prepared to do whatever was necessary. "I was prepared to take a stand, Brand said. "I didn't know if I should be an activist or an advocate or what to do." Brand said Deng expressed his desire to move on, so Brand did the same. Now the Hawks will try and move forward and put a tumultuous offseason behind them. "I feel like we've moved forward already" center Al Horford said. "The situation came about, we met as a team, all our guys came together and we understood that whatever happened, happened." 11Alive.com WXIA TV

The Heat likely will add another veteran center at the minimum to replace Oden, but it has to be someone who’s content with not playing much. (Barring injury or foul trouble, it’s hard to see many minutes available, with Chris Bosh and Chris Andersen sharing virtually all the time at center; and Josh McRoberts, Udonis Haslem, Birdman and occasionally Danny Granger at power forward.) Among those still available: Elton Brand, Andray Blatche (Heat has avoided him before because of maturity, behavior issues), Charlie Villanueva, Ryan Hollins, Ekpe Udoh, Byron Mullins, Greg Stiesma and Andrew Bynum (who can’t stay healthy). Elton Brand is not ready to say goodbye. Not just yet anyway. The Hawks center said he will take a couple of months before deciding if he will return for a 16th NBA season. Brand will be an unrestricted free agent after playing out his one-year $4 million contract with the Hawks. “I’m going to rest a while, talk to the family, see what is going on with my son,” Brand said Monday as the Hawks held their season-ending interviews. “He is an avid basketball fan. He wouldn’t mind me playing but, my wife, we’ll see. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how I feel in a few months and make another run at it. “I’ve been doing it for a long time and I love it. My body feels good. I didn’t miss any games due to injury so as long as I could still compete and help out a team, hopefully this team, we’ll see.” Atlanta Journal-Constitution
