Erazem Lorbek's agent, Maurizio Balducci, told HoopsHype that the future of his client is still unclear and there's nothing done with the San Antonio Spurs, the team that owns his rights in the NBA. Balducci said they've been very happy with FC Barcelona, but also said that San Antonio's European style of basketball makes the Spurs an attractive destination. "The scenario is still not clear because his season came to an end just five days ago, so we cannot have a clear picture so far," Balducci said. "We are not allowed to negotiate with the NBA till July 1, so we have to wait." HoopsHype Erazem Lorbek: I hear and see that the Spanish is are writing wrong information regarding my future (...) A 6-foot-10 forward from Slovenia currently playing with Ricky Rubio’s old club in Spain, Lorbek was a sidepiece of the Leonard deal. De Colo, a 6-foot-5 guard from France, has also been playing in Spain since the Spurs drafted him 53rd overall in 2009. Both have a chance to cross the pond and join the Spurs next season, depending on how the free-agency landscape shakes out. If you’re handicapping it, expect Lorbek to make the jump before de Colo. On a draft night trade that sent San Antonio Spurs fan favorite George Hill back home to Indiana, the Spurs inherited not only the rights to soon-to-be rookie Kawhi Leonard, but Slovenian player Erazem Lorbek as well. Lorbek was drafted by the Pacers in 2005 but was never able to be brought to the NBA. Now that his rights are owned by the Spurs, the idea of joining the team in the future is more interesting said Lorbek. "Now that San Antonio has my rights, the NBA option is more interesting," he admits. ProjectSpurs.com But with the NBA currently in an on-going lockout, it's unknown if basketball could return today or this year at all. For now, Lorbek is happy playing overseas. "For the moment I'm happy to be in a big team in Europe and play to win everything." ProjectSpurs.com |

![]() FC Barcelona forward Erazem Lorbek is seriously thinking about playing in the NBA. Mundo Deportivo Much of the blame for this is the trade of his NBA rights during the last draft, moving from Indiana to San Antonio, and that's something that appeals to the player. "With this change, it's much more interesting to me. My hope is to cross the Atlantic to play in the strongest league in the world. This is the dream of every basketball player." Mundo Deportivo The national coach of the Slovenian national team, Bozidar Maljkovic, explained in anger that the forward called him to tell him he didn't want to play the Eurobasket in Lithuania because there is "a chance to play in the NBA."
