"I have a lot of respect for NBA players," Bledsoe said. "I was joking around. Obviously I went to Kentucky and then they played good." Bledsoe told reporters after the game he was informed prior to tip off that the tough treatment was coming, according to the Associated Press. Noel received his flagrant foul 1 just 30 seconds into the game when he slapped down hard on Bledsoe as he defended a driving attempt in the paint. Noel's swinging left hand appeared to make significant contact with Bledsoe's arms, and Bledsoe went crashing to the court. The flagrant foul 1 designation applies to contact that is deemed "unnecessary" and it does not require an immediate ejection. Sports Illustrated

You got the contract you wanted. But was this the situation you wanted, in Phoenix? Eric Bledsoe: "I was glad to stay here. We had a great time last year. We were winning games. I felt great about this team and the organization. I was grateful and happy to be here. They signed some guys, but I never worried about that." SI.com: Would you have signed that qualifying offer? Eric Bledsoe: "I already signed it. I just didn’t send it." Sports Illustrated

Even the lowly Sixers? Former Kentucky player Eric Bledsoe, now starring for the Phoenix Suns, said on Sirius XM Radio that if there were a seven-game series between the two teams, “I would definitely take Kentucky. I think Philly would maybe probably get one game." But the Sixers’ Tony Wroten, who has been in the NBA since 2012, with Memphis and Philadelphia, told Philly reporters that there would be a different outcome. “They can’t beat us,’’ Wroten said, and then referring to Bledsoe, “He’s crazy.’’ NBC New York

The debate as to whether or not the University of Kentucky could defeat the lowly Philadelphia 76ers only intensified on Tuesday evening after the top-ranked Wildcats blew out fifth-ranked Kansas at the Champions Classic. At least one ex-Kentucky star, Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe, is on board with the notion. “I’m definitely taking Kentucky,” Bledsoe told Brian Geltzeiler and Malik Rose Wednesday morning on SiriusXM Radio when asked who would in a 7-game series. “I think Philly would get probably, maybe one game. I know they’re (Sixers fans) gonna be mad, but I love my Wildcats.ZagsBlog.com

The Suns system is designed to find the closest point guard to start a fast break, with the other running ahead. In the half-court sets, the ball is supposed to move crisply to emphasize which side of the court has a mismatch. Why has that not clicked? "Because there's only one ball and we're all point guards," Dragic said. "That's an easy answer. "It's hard. That's sacrifice. If Isaiah's playing well, he's going to stay in. Me and Eric, it depends who is playing better and who is going to be on the court. The other guy is going to be on the bench. It's the way it is. We need to embrace that." Arizona Republic

Bledsoe was prepared to go into this season on a one-year, qualifying offer contract which would have made him an unrestricted free agent next summer. The 6-foot-2 guard said he did sign a qualifying offer. "I just didn't send it in (to the Suns)," Bledsoe said. CSNNE.com

The sides went months without speaking. It got ugly. A Phoenix sports-talk-show host wrote an "open letter" to Bledsoe, calling Paul "a joke" and urging Bledsoe to fire him. The pressure was squarely on Paul to produce, given his "unreasonable" demands. That's not the way Paul saw it. "Pressure is a terminology that doesn't align with my life," Paul said. "Where I come from, the pressures are totally different. But I did think it was an important summer. I'd be lying if I said I didn't. It was important for me from a personal standpoint and a company standpoint." Cleveland Plain Dealer

Contrary to rumor, the Wolves were not seriously interested in restricted free-agent point guard Eric Bledsoe, who re-signed with Phoenix, because a deal would have had to have been a sign-and-trade and simply too complicated. Bledsoe, though, was willing to consider Minnesota, pending Rubio's status with the Wolves. St. Paul Pioneer Press

The Phoenix Suns and guard Eric Bledsoe have agreed to a five-year contract, the team announced today. “I learned long ago that it doesn’t matter how stormy the sea is as long as the ship comes in and today we are thrilled that the ship has come in and Eric will remain a Sun for a long time,” said President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby. “He will be an integral part not only of our basketball team, but our Phoenix community.” NBA.com
