The Phoenix Suns and guard Eric Bledsoe have agreed to a five-year contract, the team announced today. “I learned long ago that it doesn’t matter how stormy the sea is as long as the ship comes in and today we are thrilled that the ship has come in and Eric will remain a Sun for a long time,” said President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby. “He will be an integral part not only of our basketball team, but our Phoenix community.” NBA.com

The Phoenix Suns brass and the Eric Bledsoe camp are negotiating again. That, in itself, is major progress. League sources confirmed that there have been renewed contract talks between Suns executives and Bledose's representatives since the weekend. Yahoo! also reported that the progress was significant enough that a deal could be in place by the start of training camp. USA Today Sports

The Suns offered Bledsoe a four-year, $48 million contract in July, but Bledsoe's representatives insist that the guard's value is a full maximum contract. There's been minimal communication between Bledsoe's representatives and Suns officials since the franchise's offer in July. Bledsoe's representatives with Klutch Sports, Rich Paul and Mark Termini, were unable to find a consequential offer sheet to force the Suns into matching a deal. Timberwolves president and coach Flip Saunders has been represented by Termini for much of his coaching career. Yahoo! Sports
