HoopsHype Eric Williams rumors

June 9, 2013 Updates

"Basketball Wives" and former NBA star Eric Williams is about to learn a hard lesson -- babies can cost you your freedom. A judge just issued an arrest warrant for Williams ... because he's completely blown off a paternity case which required him to both appear and submit a DNA sample. As TMZ first reported, Williams -- who is in the process of divorcing "Wives" star Jennifer Williams -- was slapped with a paternity suit last year by a woman who claims he knocked her up. The woman's son was born in October, 2011, while he was still living with Jennifer. TMZ.com

Former NBA star Eric Williams -- the estranged husband of "BB Wives" star Jennifer Williams -- allegedly had a secret child in 2011 ... and now the baby mama wants him to pony up some child support ASAP. Tavia Serena Cannon filed a Complaint for Support in PA last week, she claims she had a child with Eric in October 2011. Cannon says she makes $300/week babysitting and wants Williams to fork over some cash and medical coverage for the kid. TMZ.com

Here's the rub ... at the time the baby was allegedly conceived -- Jan/Feb 2011 -- the former NBAer was still married to Jennifer ... who didn't file for divorce until June 2011. Sources close to Jennifer tell TMZ this news comes as a shock. They claim the "BB Wife" had NO CLUE about the child. Their divorce is still pending in a NJ court. TMZ.com

“Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams is filing a lawsuit Wednesday accusing a Manhattan woman of a flagrant foul for viciously slapping her face during a taping of the reality show. Williams, ex-wife of NBA player Eric Williams, also has filed a complaint with the state attorney’s office in Florida, said lawyer Sanford Rubenstein. “Violence used against any person is wrong but when a woman hits another woman it sets a horrible example for young girls everywhere,” Williams told the Daily News. Eric Williams, never a superstar as an NBA player, found new fame as the husband of one of the characters (and we do mean "characters") on the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives. He and his wife, Jennifer, might see lesser roles on the show now that Jennifer has filed for divorce, but the former Boston Celtics forward didn't seem heartbroken in a video posted by TMZ. In fact, a cynic might say that feeling this good is downright criminal. "I feel like O.J. Simpson when he was found not guilty in his first trial; I'm free," Williams said, sitting on the front stoop of a home in Harlem. NESN.com

Williams was a versatile scorer on seven teams, including two stints with the Celtics, in his 12 NBA seasons. The Newark, N.J., native averaged 12.9 points in his first two seasons in Boston before he was traded in 1997 to Denver, where he was slowed by injuries. He returned to Boston in a 1999 deal that involved Ron Mercer going to the Nuggets. The 38-year-old does not appear to be slowed by retirement. "I'm drinking my O.E.," he said, raising a bottle of Olde English, "chillin' with my mentor, chillin' in Harlem. What else can it be?" NESN.com
