HoopsHype Ersan Ilyasova rumors

February 14, 2014 Updates

Ilyasova is arguably the Bucks’ best trading chip and several teams are believed to be interested in him. According to multiple sources, Ilyasova has expressed a desire to be traded, apparently having had his fill of the Bucks’ continual rebuilding project. Racine Journal-Times

Ilyasova downplayed talk about him wanting out of Milwaukee and declined to comment on whether he or his agent, Andy Miller, had requested a trade. Ilyasova made it clear, though, the Bucks’ revolving door policy with players has irritated him. “The thing I’m upset about is each year, each season, we go through the same thing,” Ilyasova said. “Last year, we make the playoffs and now we start all over again. That’s really frustrating. Racine Journal-Times

Ersan Ilyasova reported no problems after taking part in the Bucks' 5-on-5 practice session Monday at the Cousins Center. If he feels good again Tuesday, it's possible the 6-foot-10 power forward could be ready for the season opener against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. Ilyasova suffered a right ankle sprain in the Bucks' first preseason game, played Oct. 8 in Cleveland. But he has made steady progress with help from the team's training staff. "Obviously we didn't go hard but I was feeling much better," Ilyasova said after the Bucks' season preview luncheon at the Hyatt Regency. "It's a day-by-day thing now and tomorrow is another practice and I'll just try to build on it." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Power forward Ersan Ilyasova suffered a sprained right ankle in the Bucks' 99-87 loss in the preseason opener against Cleveland on Tuesday night, putting him on the sideline along with injured center Zaza Pachulia and power forward Ekpe Udoh. "In looking at him it was pretty severe," Drew said. "Hopefully he's OK because right now we are really down in big men." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Sources close to the situation say that virtually every team in the league has called at one point this summer about Ilyasova, so if the Bucks struggle to get Ilyasova back to the form that earned him his current long-term deal, don’t be surprised to see him and his three years and $24.2 million remaining dangled around, especially if the rumored plan to play Henson and Sanders together becomes the norm in Milwaukee. Stars Hedo Turkoglu, Ersan Ilyasova and Omer Asik headline an impressive 20-strong preliminary squad for EuroBasket 2013 that the Turkish federation made public on Wednesday. The list of Turkey head coach Bogdan Tanjevic is an ambitious mix of old and new with the only big-name absence being that of Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter, which was however already announced in the spring. Speaking to Sparky Fifer and voice of the Bucks Ted Davis on WSSP 1250, Gery Woelfel suggests that the Wizards are rumored to be interested in acquiring Ersan Ilyasova and another player for their third overall pick in June 27 draft (note that he also emphasized about five times this is just a rumor). The devil is of course in the details, but it's safe to say that any deal netting the Bucks a top-five pick without involving Larry Sanders or John Henson would seem like a clear win for a Milwaukee team in desperate need of long-term difference-makers. If it didn't require them to sacrifice the 15th overall pick either? Well that's a home run, even if it requires them to take back salary in the form of Emeka Okafor and/or Trevor Ariza. The same can't be said from the Washington perspective unfortunately. Brew Hoop

They know they’re in a dire situation. They know if they suffer a third straight loss to the reigning champion Heat, their season is, for all intent and purpose, history. “Yeah, it is,” said Bucks power forward Ersan Ilyasova, who is coming off a 21-point, six-rebound performance in Game 2. “They (the Heat) used their home-court advantage to be up 2-0 in the series, so Game 3 is really key for us. If we win this game, we have a chance. But if we lose this game, it’s hard to come up from 0-3 and try to win the series.” Racine Journal-Times
