The Rockets might be watching the play of Spain’s Sergio Llull and Greece’s Kostas Papanikolaou, players not of the roster whose rights they hold, even more closely. Papanikolao, whose rights the Rockets acquired in the trade that sent Thomas Robinson to Portland, did not do much in the tournament opener, but had 10 points in 21 minutes against the strong Russian frontcourt. Llull has already established himself as a solid prospect and has played well in Fiba events, but has gotten off to a slow start this week. He made 1 of 4 shots in the blowout of Croatia and went just 1 of 3 in the upset loss to Goran Dragic and Slovenia. A 6-4 guard, Llull’s strong play for Real Madrid has earned the sort of contract that the Rockets were not ready to offer until he is ready for a significant role, but he should make the jump in a year or two making him someone worth watching. Dorsey, though, recently signed a two year deal with FC Barcelona in Spain. The 6'8" big man says he loves it overseas, but if the opportunity presents itself he could see himself back in the NBA. "I met with the coach, the GM, some of the players, [former Grizzly Juan Carlos] Navarro. It was amazing man. It's a little bit like Miami, the beach, the weather and everything like that, and I have an NBA out [clause] my second year so if things change and I want to come back to the NBA, I may do it," said Dorsey. Since last playing with the Raptors, Dorsey has played overseas in the top leagues in Turkey as well as Greece. WMCTV.com

European powerhouse FC Barcelona has elevated its pursuit of Copeland and wants to start negotiations on a lucrative contract for the 6-foot-8 forward, league sources told RealGM. Copeland will listen to all potential suitors, but still, he’s made clear his willingness to return to the Knicks even if they aren’t able to match his most pricey offer. RealGM

“Returning is very much an option,” agent John Spencer told RealGM. “He turned down several options to play, turned down enormous money to get an NBA opportunity last year. He wants to play and wants to contribute. The Knicks are a good organization, with Mike Woodson and the list goes on. There’s a chance another team will potentially pick him up, obviously, but the Knicks gave Chris the opportunity to play and he’s loyal because of that.” RealGM
