![]() Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman admitted Thursday that Joakim Noah's plantar fasciitis in his right foot is a problem that's likely to linger into the playoffs. "The concern now is more short-term," Forman said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "I think this is the type of injury where we're trying to manage it and get him better where he's more comfortable. "But I think this is going to bother him now throughout obviously the season and into the playoffs. We'll look at the options once the season is over as far as trying to remedy what's going on with his plantar fasciitis." ESPN.com |

![]() Reggie's unexpected, critical comments overshadowed the Bulls' 86-67 loss to the Heat at the United Center and resonated so loudly that Derrick Rose felt compelled to issue a comment before tipoff. "I have always felt that the Bulls organization's goals have been the same as mine and that is to bring another championship to this city,'' Derrick said. The Bulls released the succinct, 25-word statement after team officials John Paxson and Gar Forman stopped Derrick in a hallway after a pre-game shootaround and ushered him into a private room. Five minutes later, D-Rose emerged but declined to comment as he breezed past reporters. Reggie Rose sat in his usual courtside seat behind the west basket and bristled when I approached him during a first-quarter timeout to discuss his inflammatory comments. Chicago Tribune "Reggie, do you have anything you want to add to your comments today?'' I asked. "No comment,'' he answered. "Do you regret anything you said?'' "What would I regret?'' "That you put Derrick in an uncomfortable spot.'' "That's my brother. That's my brother who you say I put in an uncomfortable spot.'' Reggie's eyes widened and he paused. "Remember that!'' he said. "No comment.'' Chicago Tribune With that, Reggie Rose turned away to watch his brother's Bulls teammates he disrespected get blown out by the defending NBA champs. It would be wrong to say Bulls players were distracted. It would be exaggerating to say Paxson or Forman were miffed; Paxson even tried making a joke. Frustrated or not, both officials stressed what everybody in the Bulls organization suggested: Those comments sound like Reggie but not Derrick, who Paxson said never has complained about the roster. Remember, Derrick was the guy who embraced the status quo enough to lobby publicly to keep Keith Bogans before the 2011-12 season. Keith Bogans. Chicago Tribune Reggie Rose, the older brother of Derrick, did acknowledge the team's two all-stars, Deng and Joakim Noah, but suggested the Bulls should have made a move before the trade deadline. “I don’t know if it did (distract any players), but we didn’t talk about it as a team," Deng said. I don’t think that was the problem." Arlington Heights Daily Herald |

The Richard Hamilton trade rumors were given their last rites this week. That doesn’t mean Bulls general manager Gar Forman won’t take calls, but he sure doesn’t sound like he’s making them. “No, no, Rip is a big part of what we’re doing,’’ Forman said when asked about the validity of all the Hamilton talk. “I think Rip’s been really good.’’ Chicago Sun-Times |

![]() A number of NBA GMs -- including the Celtics’ Danny Ainge, the Jazz’s Kevin O’Connor, Bulls’ Gar Forman, the Warriors Bob Myers and the Blazers Neil Olshey -- were in attendance. Overall, they are seeing the same phenomenon here that they are seeing everywhere. This is a down season, talent wise, in the NCAA. “If Cody Zeller, Shabazz Muhammad, Nerlens Noel and James McAdoo are your top four picks, it’s going to be an ugly, ugly draft.” Other than McAdoo, I couldn’t find a scout or GM convinced there was another first-round prospect here. If Kabongo plays, that could be two. But that explains, in part, why the field is so weak. ESPN.com |

![]() The Bulls, plain and simple, were desperate for some good news – beyond the modest re-signing of Kirk Hinrich — and general manager Gar Forman delivered it minutes into his gathering with the team’s media. The deal reportedly is worth at least $17 million, possibly more with incentives. “The thing about Tom is, when you watch him work every day, there is an emphasis on defense and rebounding, but he’s very good on both sides of the ball. Offensively he’s very, very creative. He builds strong relationships with our players and through those relationships, there’s a trust level. “You can see that in how our guys respond to him. I’m biased, because I’m here every day. But I think he’s the best coach in the NBA.” NBA.com |

![]() Vice president John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman carefully assembled a roster that fit together seamlessly when everybody was healthy, which was rare last season. They undoubtedly tried to build this roster just as meticulously, but whether this one will be as successful as last season’s version remains to be seen. Complicating the process is the void left by Rose’s absence, which extends beyond his considerable ability. Rose is the player most responsible for setting the pace and holding teammates to a high standard, which he won’t be able to do until he recovers from ACL surgery, and nobody, least of all Rose, knows when that might be. In the meantime, he’s going to try to lead from the training room, which is never easy. In a way, Thibodeau is preparing his team for two seasons --- one without Rose and one when Rose returns, which only increases the degree of difficulty. Chicago Sun-Times |

Floyd and Forman are great friends; can't you tell? They're linked by basketball, Taj Gibson (Floyd coached him; Forman drafted him) and, well, the links. They love the game, but it does not love them back. They're both gym rats with swings uglier than a Shaquille O'Neal free throw. At Iowa State in the mid-'90s, Floyd gave Forman his first golf clubs — a backup set from Floyd's garage. "Wooden heads," Floyd said. "I was surprised that Gar was still using them in 2008. Then again, he is kind of tight." Forman actually played well late last summer, shooting as low as 93. The NBA lockout was good for his game. This offseason? He has been a little busy drafting Marquis Teague and swapping out the Bench Mob for Kirk Hinrich, Marco Belinelli, Nazr Mohammed, Vladimir Radmanovic and Nate Robinson. Floyd's handicap is that he has never taken a lesson. "That's obvious," he cracked. Chicago Tribune |

![]() The Bulls will not match the restricted free agent offer to Omer Asik, allowing Asik to join the Houston Rockets. “We have decided not to match Houston’s offer sheet for restricted free agent Omer Asik,” Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Tuesday morning. “It was a difficult decision because Omer did a nice job for us. Matching the offer for Omer could have put us in a difficult position going forward in trying to acquire high level talent. We wish Omer good luck and continued success.” Bulls.com |

“We are pleased to be able to bring Kirk back to Chicago. His ability to play both spots in the backcourt will help us immensely this season,” said Bulls General Manager Gar Forman. “Kirk’s tenacity and passion for the game complement our style of play, and we look forward to seeing him back in a Bulls uniform.” NBA.com |

Brewer said general manager Gar Forman told his agent he might be re-signed at a reduced salary. "I will definitely test the market, though," Brewer said in a phone interview from his basketball camp in Arkansas. "Whatever team I end up going to, I know I'm going to have another improved year." ![]() General manager Gar Forman declined to address whether the Bulls will match Omer Asik's three-year, $24.2 million offer sheet from the Rockets, which Asik will sign when the free-agent moratorium ends July 11. The Bulls will have three days to match the deal, which could rise slightly in value depending on what the salary cap is set at on July 10. "I'm not going to talk about any type of negotiation or anything contractually until we see something," Forman said. "We've made it clear we value Omer and it's been our goal that Omer would stay with the Bulls." Chicago Tribune "In regards to Omer, obviously I’ve seen reports of an offer," Forman said Monday. "But we haven’t seen anything yet. I don’t want to speculate until we actually we see something. We’ve made it clear we value Omer and it’s been our goal that Omer would stay with the Bulls. I’m not going to talk about any type of negotiation or anything contractually until we see something." Chicago Tribune |

"Tom is our coach and Tom is under contract this coming year," Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Thursday night on ESPN 1000. "And our hope is that Tom will be our coach for a long, long time." Multiple reports surfaced during the season that Thibodeau was unhappy that he didn't have a long-term extension in place. Reports also quoted sources saying the players knew about Thibodeau's unhappiness. ESPN.com Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Thursday the organization didn't make any serious efforts to trade forward Luol Deng or any of the team's core players before the NBA draft. "Were we actively shopping our players? Absolutely not," Forman said after the Bulls drafted Kentucky guard Marquis Teague with the 29th pick. "Are there conversations? All 30 teams have conversations about everybody on their roster. But we like the core of this team, and it's our job to continue to try to put pieces around Derrick (Rose) and some of the other core guys and try to continue to trend up." ESPN.com |

![]() Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman sat down for a Q&A on the team's website recently and addressed several topics, including: Omer Asik's future in Chicago: "Omer is a restricted free agent this summer, which means we've got an opportunity to talk to him about a new contract on July 1. And obviously other teams will have the opportunity to talk to him also. We will be able to match any offer he'll receive on the open market place, but it's our goal to have conversations with him the very first day, and we see him as a key piece to our team moving forward. "We think he has shown the potential to continue to improve, and it's our goal that Omer Asik will be a Chicago Bull in the foreseeable future." ESPN.com |

![]() “Omer is very, very important to us,” said Forman. “We see him as a key piece of our team moving forward. We think he’s shown the potential to continue to improve. We’re looking forward to getting a chance to sit down with him on July 1. But it’s certainly our intention to have Omer Asik in a Chicago Bulls uniform long term.” NBA.com |
