As for when Mirotic might be added to the Bulls roster, it likely will not be before the 2014-15 NBA season. “He’ll remain under contract with Real Madrid for the next couple years,” stated Forman. “But it’s certainly our goal and our expectation that Nikola will be in a Chicago Bulls uniform somewhere down the line. We’ll continue to monitor his progress and feel really good about the development that’s taking place. NBA.com ![]() KC Johnson: Bulls GM Gar Forman tells team web site DRose has "made tremendous progress" and is "optimistic" he will play "at some point" next season. Twitter With Rose expected to miss eight months to a year, life without their star point guard is a reality the Bulls will have to face when the 2012-13 NBA season gets underway. But based on what he’s seen so far, Forman remains upbeat about Rose’s recovery. NBA.com “He’s been diligent in his rehab, he’s made tremendous progress, and the surgery, obviously, was a huge success,” said Forman of Rose. “The biggest thing that’s been encouraging about Derrick has been his mentality towards the rehab. He’s working each and every day, putting a lot of effort into it, and we’re optimistic that if he continues to make the type of progress that he has, that we’ll see Derrick back on the floor at some point next season.” NBA.com |

The surgery to repair the torn ACL on his left knee is done, but now begins the long road to recovery for Bulls guard Derrick Rose. Bulls GM Gar Forman, trainer Fred Tedeschi and team physician Dr. Brian Cole met with the media Tuesday afternoon at Rush University Medical Center to give an update on Chicago’s most-talked-about knee. “Derrick is doing great,” said Cole, who performed the surgery on Saturday. “The surgery went extremely well. No surprises.” Chicago Sun-Times |

I’ve covered pro sports for 20 years and never have been around a more hard-working or tighter-knit group of athletes than these Bulls. From Rose to Brian Scalabrine, these guys genuinely care about and play for each other. There’s real value in that. The respect around the league for the Bulls is off the charts. To find a group of players that plays as hard and unselfishly as this team does is extremely rare at any level in any sport, which is why vice president John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman will be reluctant to compromise what the Bulls have built. The Bulls will have the best record in the East, and Tom Thibodeau will still sell that locker room as underdogs. He’ll win the Coach of the Year again, and he’ll bring something of a personal ferocity into the playoffs. He isn’t happy the Bulls haven’t addressed a contract extension and his relationship with GM Gar Forman remains tepid, sources said. Yahoo! Sports |

![]() Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Tuesday that talks to extend the contract of coach Tom Thibodeau were initiated before the season and were tabled, but they'll resume once the season is over. "To us it's a non-issue," Forman said on "The Carmen, Jurko & Harry Show" on ESPN 1000. ESPN.com "Obviously we think very, very highly of Tom and his staff. Jerry (Reinsdorf) even come out and said it, we're hopeful Tom will be our coach here for a long, long time. "We actually this fall initiated extension talks with Tom, and they were very productive. And then the season started and as you guys know the season has been extremely hectic ... I know Tom and his staff and our staff we all wanted to concentrate on the season, so we decided at that time to table it, but they had been very productive up to that point. And we'll get back to talking about an extension when the season is over." ESPN.com "We want Tom to be our coach for a long time, and I know Tom wants to coach the Chicago Bulls," Forman said at the annual charity dinner and auction at the United Center on Tuesday night. "We initiated extension talks with him last fall, which really is probably unprecedented in the NBA after one year, but we think that highly of Tom. Our talks were very productive. When our season started, both sides agreed to table those talks until after the season. "It's our objective to have Tom as coach of the Bulls long-term and I think it's Tom's objective to be the coach of the Bulls. Usually, when you're objectives are the same you should be able to reach a resolution." Chicago Sun-Times |

This could pave the way for the Bulls to add a reserve big man, which general manager Gar Forman has alluded to as far back as training camp. Leon Powe and Joel Przybilla are two players with whom the Bulls have had conversations to bolster a frontcourt which currently has Luol Deng out. Chicago Tribune |

Bulls general manager Gar Forman made it clear before the Bulls first home game on Bulls Pregame Live that the team is actively looking to add a veteran big when the right fit presents itself. Wallace, 37, has plenty of size at 6-foot-11 and was always a strong shooter for his size. In his final season -- 2009-10 with the Boston Celtics -- he played in 79 games, averaging 22:30 of playing time and 9.0 points with 4.1 rebounds and one block per game. CSN Chicago |

![]() Al Iannazzone: Pat Riley and Chicago's Gar Forman share Executive of the Year honors. They each got 11 of possible 30 votes from panel of fellow NBA execs. Twitter Chris Mannix: Voting says a lot about rival execs opinion of Pat Riley. Seems to me a few GM's out there must really believe he tampered with LBJ. Twitter Mike McGraw: John Paxson was third in exec of year voting, which makes little sense. I guess Gar/Pax technically finished first. Twitter |
