The Knicks announced yesterday that Gene Cross will be the head coach of their D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, this season. “We are extremely excited that Gene Cross is the new head coach of the Erie BayHawks,” said Knicks assistant GM Allan Houston in a statement. Houston runs the basketball operations for the D-League team. “We believe that his passion for the game, experience in evaluating players, knowledge of the NBA Development League, and his commitment to winning and developing young talent on and off the court will make him a great addition to not only the BayHawks, but to the New York Knicks, as well.” New York Post
Former University of Toledo men’s basketball coach Gene Cross has accepted an assistant coaching position with the NBA Development League’s Utah Flash, the organization announced Wednesday. The Rockets finished a program-worst 4-28 last season under Cross and were 11-53 in his two seasons before he submitted his resignation last March. Under the terms of his resignation, Cross was paid his normal biweekly salary of $10,769.23 until Aug. 1. Toledo Blade
