Injured Indiana Pacers guard George Hill has some work ahead of him before he returns to the lineup, but he took a step in that direction Saturday when he wore a shoe on his left foot instead of a walking boot. Hill has missed the past three games after suffering a small chip fracture in his left ankle against New Jersey on Jan. 31. "It's not as bad as they thought it was," Hill said. "It's only a partial chip instead of it being fully chipped. They say my return is looking pretty good." Neither Hill nor the Pacers would put a timetable on his return, but the former Broad Ripple High School and IUPUI star said his goal is to return before the All-Star break, which starts Feb. 23. "I'm planning on it," Hill said. "I have to continue to do the rehab they've got me doing and things like that." Indianapolis Star |

![]() Indiana Pacers guard George Hill and center Roy Hibbert will have to wait until the summer to get their next contracts and find out where they'll be playing next season. The deadline for contract extensions passed Wednesday night with neither player agreeing to a new deal. They will be restricted free agents, meaning the Pacers can match any offer made to them, this summer. "We'll just wait until this summer and see what we can do," Pacers President Larry Bird said. Indianapolis Star Hibbert said he will not allow his contract status this summer to affect his play. "To tell you the truth, I've had conversations with the sports psychologist about how we go about doing this, and I was told to basically put it away," Hibbert said. "Whatever happens, happens. My agent has been doing this for years, so whatever he says, I'm going to go by it. He wants me to wait, so I'm going to wait." Indianapolis Star |

![]() The NBA released a statement Saturday admitting that its officials missed a kicked ball violation in the final seconds of Friday's game that cost the Warriors a chance to beat Indiana. "Pacers guard George Hill intentionally kicked the ball away from Warriors guard Monta Ellis during his crossover dribble," the statement read. "According to rule No. 10, Section IV.b, kicking the ball or striking it with any part of the leg is a violation when it is an intentional act. The officials missed the kicked ball violation which should have resulted in a dead-ball situation and Golden State inbounding the ball on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation." ![]() The NBA admitted today that officials failed to call a kicked-ball violation in the final seconds of the Warriors’ 94-91 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday at Oracle Arena. Video replays clearly showed that George Hill’s right foot kicked the ball on Monta Ellis’ dribble with 3.9 seconds remaining. The officials didn’t call an intentional kicking-the-ball violation, and Hill raced to the other end of the court for a three-point play that gave Indiana the win. San Francisco Chronicle The NBA officials released this statement today: “With 5.4 seconds remaining in the Indiana-Golden State game on Jan. 20, Pacers guard George Hill intentionally kicked the ball away from Warriors guard Monta Ellis during his cross over dribble. According to rule no. 10, Section IV.b, kicking the ball or striking it with any part of the leg is a violation when it is an intentional act. The officials missed the kicked ball violation which should have resulted in a deadball situation and Golden State inbounding the ball on the sideline nearest the spot of the violation.” San Francisco Chronicle ![]() Ellis was picked clean by the Indiana Pacers' George Hill as he attempted a drive to the basket. Hill raced in for a layup, was fouled and converted a three-point play with 1.8 seconds left. Just like that, the Warriors were left to digest a 94-91 loss -- one that left coach Mark Jackson steamed on several fronts. Replays appeared to show Hill kick the ball right after knocking it free from Ellis. The referees ruled it unintentional and let play continue rather than blow the whistle. "The referees felt it wasn't intentional, obviously it was," Jackson said. " ... This is just a missed call." Contra Costa Times |

![]() The most unexpected trade on draft night is turning out to be a win-win for San Antonio and Indiana. Fourth-year guard George Hill had established himself as a possible replacement for Tony Parker in San Antonio who was not only younger but also cheaper as a worthy complement to Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. But on draft night in June, the 25-year-old Indiana native was traded to the Pacers for Kawhi Leonard (15th pick) and 19-year-old small forward Davis Bertans (42nd pick, now playing for Partizan Belgrade). SI.com "I would definitely say that's the type of vibe that's coming from both sides," Whitaker said Thursday when asked if there was a serious push for a deal. "Hopefully something will get done. If not, then the thing is he'll still be a restricted free agent this summer. "We talked about [both three- and four-year deals]. We talked about different options, so we don't know what the final conclusion is going to be. I just think it's good that the talks are going on. He's only played 12 games with the Pacers, so the fact that they're showing this kind of commitment to get something done is definitely promising." SI.com |

Guard George Hill is also eligible for a contract extension. "We handle extensions discussions the same every year," Morway said. "We'll explore it. We're going to talk to both Roy and George's reps and see where it takes us." Indianapolis Star |

George Hill, Pacers (26th): Hill's agent, Michael Whitaker, met with the Pacers in Indiana on Saturday, and said there was a "good possibility" that a deal could be worked out before the 25th. But if not, he's confident Hill, picked up from San Antonio on Draft night last June for the rights to Kawhi Leonard, will have a lot of suitors. "They did express they would like to get a deal done before the deadine," Whitaker said Sunday night. "We did talk more about the possibility of doing four years instead of three years. That's about as far as we've gotten so far. If it makes sense, it's something we'll consider doing. If not we'll see what happens this summer. We both appreciate that they've expressed they want to get something done before the summer, especially since he's just played 11 games with them. I think that's a good thing." NBA.com |

There was Danny Granger and Roy Hibbert, Paul George and Darren Collison, Tyler Hansbrough and George Hill. This is a talented team, and it so desperately needed one more big brother to walk into the room. The scoring, the rebounding, the defense has come with West, but Foster is no longer the lone veteran voice. The clowning is gone, replaced with a determination that breaking off plays, going one-on-one with the ball is no longer acceptable. Everything’s changing with these Pacers, and sometimes it just takes one man to walk through the door. “The way he carries himself in the locker room, the weight room, on the court, there’s such leadership,” Foster said. “He speaks up when he sees something that’s not right, but sometimes it’s just a look. He’s been a huge presence so far.” Yahoo! Sports |

Pacers guard George Hill is still trying to feel out his role. The process has played a significant role in his poor shooting. Hill is shooting 5-of-25 from the field, including 0-of-9 on 3-pointers, in two preseason and two regular-season games. "When you come to a new organization, you learn new things," Hill said. "It was the same way when I was in San Antonio. It took a minute to get used to things. You've got to get familiar where your shots are going to come from and get familiar with how the system works." SLAM: Getting back to basketball, I really liked the moves that the team made during the offseason like picking up George Hill around the Draft and signing David West. How do you feel about the moves the team made? Roy Hibbert: The team is, we are extremely young, we’re talented and we added some pieces, some veteran pieces like you said. David West, an experienced low post player whose pick and pop game is excellent. We acquired Lou Amundson from Golden State and he’s a hustle guy who can actually score in the paint and has really good moves that he hasn’t been able to show. George Hill is obviously long, athletic 2 guard who can play the 1. Plus, with this long lockout and the season starting late I think a lot of these older teams will be a step slower so if we can get out the gate and win those first couple games and just use our youth, we’ll be able to stay a step ahead of everybody else. Q: Are there any intriguing battles you're looking forward to in camp? Frank Vogel: Definitely. I think what George Hill brings to the table at the point guard and wing spot is something I'm interested in. I'm eager to see how much Lance Stephenson has grown over the summer. Paul George is in the position to take the next step, but he's got quality competition from our other wings. We don't know what the rest of our team will look like in terms of who is going to be at the other positions. But really, where George Hill fits in at the shooting guard and point guard spot is what I'm most eager to see. Indianapolis Star |

With the NBA lockout still in full bloom, Hill was in town to play point guard for the Texas Fuel. “I know San Antonio misses some basketball,” said Hill, one of the Spurs' most popular players in his three seasons with the team. “I wanted to give the fans something to do during the lockout.” Haven't heard of the Texas Fuel? You're likely not alone. The Fuel is the name given to the American Basketball Association team that plays at the Alamo Convocation Center. San Antonio Express-News |
