HoopsHype Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors

September 8, 2014 Updates

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Greek national team returned to Athens at the first morning hours of Monday and what he had to say to Eurohoops was that he intends to always answer the call of the national team, after his experience in the FIBA World Cup. As he said: “Whenever the national team calls me, I will be present, provided that I am healthy. I experience a moment with our captain, Nikos Zisis after the game. I saw him, a very experienced player, shading a tear. Honestly that changed my whole perception about the national team. I understood what the national team means for those guys and I hope after many years to be in his position. I hope this team would have the same meaning for me, even more compared to the many things it already means”. EuroHoops.net

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek federation and Milwaukee Bucks agreed in a formula that seems to be a win-win situation for every one involved. The Greek forward will not be a member of the Greek U20 national team in the upcoming Eurobasket, which will be held at the island of Crete between 8 and 20 of July, in order to play in the Las Vegas Summer League with the Bucks at the 11th of July. After that, the “Greek freak” will return to Greece and will take part in the training camp of the senior Greek national team which will compete in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain. Babcock said the Bucks should have an intriguing summer league team in Las Vegas. The plan is for second-year players Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nate Wolters to play on the squad, and the Bucks' draft picks also should be there. "In the summer, you can put them (Antetokounmpo and Wolters) in positions they weren't in last year," Babcock said. "Giannis can be the focal point of the offense, and Nate can run the show. It's a lot different." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
