Like many aspiring NBA prospects, Sims is forced to continuously weigh the pros and cons between both playing close to home in the D-League, or making a move overseas to go where the more lucrative opportunities may be. With just a few weeks left in the NBA season and the chances of earning a call-up perhaps growing slimmer by the day, the big man has opted to go where the money is. Overnight Tuesday, Sims was en route to the Philippines, where he will join the Petron squad. At this point in the season, "getting noticed" and being able play stateside could just as well be valued less because of the little time left in the regular season. Thus, it makes sense for Sims to cash in on a different opportunity before perhaps returning to the states in time for Summer League. Ridiculous Upside

As expected, New Orleans Hornets announced Sunday they have signed former Georgetown C/F Henry Sims to a 10-day contract to fill the void caused by forward Jason Smith's season-ending shoulder injury. Sims, 6 feet 10, 245 pounds, started 36 games this season for the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League and averaged 17.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game. Sims was selected as an NBA D-League All-Star last month and is coming off a 21-point, 12- rebound performance against the Maine Red Claws on March 1. New Orleans Times-Picayune

With center/forward Jason Smith sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, the New Orleans Hornets are expected to sign NBA Development League center-forward Henry Sims to a 10-day contract on Sunday, a league source confirmed. Sims, 6 feet 10, 245 pounds, played at Georgetown last season but went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. In 36 games with the Erie Bayhawks in the NBA Development league this season, Smith averaged 17.1 points and 9.0 rebounds. Sims played in the 2012 NBA Summer League with the Chicago Bulls. He signed with the New York Knicks, but was released at the end of the preseason. New Orleans Times-Picayune

Waiting until after the All-Star break might be too late to sign Amundson, but the Knicks still have Henry Sims in their backyard. He's been tearing it up on the Knicks' D-League team, the Erie BayHawks, with high double-doubles on a consistent basis. While the Knicks are currently settled on their 15-man roster, Sims is definitely on the team's radar. "They want to see if Henry is a young big they could add to their core group," a source close to Sims said. "I think if Henry keeps playing as he is, they would need to look now." ESPN.com

So with that being said, should the Knicks give a hard look at the 6-10 Sims, who was with the team during the preseason? One agent who represents a Knick said, "It's a good look." Even though the D-League favors guard play, Sims has dominated. He's currently averaging 16 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 31.8 minutes for the Knicks' D-League team, the Erie BayHawks. In three of his recent games, he scored 22, 20 and then 30 points in a row, and this month, he's had 18, 12 and 10 rebounding nights, including a five-block game. ESPN.com

The Knicks sliced their roster to their final 15 yesterday, cutting a player who started their first preseason game and keeping a player who was forgotten about until the second half of the second game. The team waived four players — forward Mychel Thompson, guard Oscar Bellfield, forward John Shurna and center Henry Sims. The Knicks kept forward Chris Copeland, who averaged 15.5 points in the preseason. New York Post
