The Cavs stayed over in Portland and will visit the Nike store today before flying to Denver for the final stop on this West Coast trip. A number of the veterans have Nike deals and have been to the store plenty, but it’s usually a big deal for the rookies. Sergey Karasev has already been there as part of the Nike Hoops Summit and has a Nike contract, but undrafted rookie Henry Sims is making his first trip. Most rookies bring lists of items family and friends want, but not Sims. “I didn’t tell them I was coming,” he said. “I’m smarter than that.” Akron Beacon Journal

Earlier this week, Marc Berman of the New York Post reported that the Knicks were attempting to acquire recently cut big man Jeremy Tyler's NBA D-League rights. RidiculousUpside.com can now confirm through our own sources that such an attempt is (still) going on. Interestingly enough, however, such a deal wouldn't technically be brokered through the Knicks and Warriors, but rather each one's respective NBADL affiliates. The (Santa Cruz) Warriors own Tyler's rights from last season, when he helped lead the way towards his team's D-League Finals appearance. The tricky question now is, what do the BayHawks have to trade, and what might the Warriors desire back in return to have in Santa Cruz? Erie's best player from last season, Henry Sims, is now a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ridiculous Upside

Zeller worked up a sweat Friday while battling one-on-one with roster-cut survivor Henry Sims and then ran on the treadmill. His return from his appendectomy Oct. 11 has been a slow and arduous process, and he is not yet cleared for full-contact practice, he said. But the player who last season averaged 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds is better today than he was yesterday, and that's an improvement. "I'm just glad I'm finally moving a little bit," Zeller said. "I'm able to actually shoot a little bit. I haven't gotten as far as I'd like to. It's been frustrating, but at the same time, also encouraging that I'm starting to get back into it." Other non-roster players vying for spots are Australian point guard Matthew Dellavedova, Miami (Fla.) forward Kenny Kadji, St. Bonaventure forward Michael Lee, Georgetown center Henry Sims, Central Florida guard Jermaine Taylor and former first-round pick Elliot Williams, a guard from Memphis. Dellavedova signed a partially guaranteed, two-year deal and is expected to secure the third-point guard spot. That leaves six other players vying for one spot. Sulia

Center Henry Sims (D-League), who played with the Knicks last preseason, has been invited to participate with the team this summer, but he hasn't accepted the offer yet. Sims is one of the more attractive young big men on the market for his post-up game and offensive rebounding, and he's weighing several different summer league opportunities. In addition, point guard Tony Taylor (D-League), could receive an invite. ESPN.com
