Like many aspiring NBA prospects, Sims is forced to continuously weigh the pros and cons between both playing close to home in the D-League, or making a move overseas to go where the more lucrative opportunities may be. With just a few weeks left in the NBA season and the chances of earning a call-up perhaps growing slimmer by the day, the big man has opted to go where the money is. Overnight Tuesday, Sims was en route to the Philippines, where he will join the Petron squad. At this point in the season, "getting noticed" and being able play stateside could just as well be valued less because of the little time left in the regular season. Thus, it makes sense for Sims to cash in on a different opportunity before perhaps returning to the states in time for Summer League. Ridiculous Upside |

Waiting until after the All-Star break might be too late to sign Amundson, but the Knicks still have Henry Sims in their backyard. He's been tearing it up on the Knicks' D-League team, the Erie BayHawks, with high double-doubles on a consistent basis. While the Knicks are currently settled on their 15-man roster, Sims is definitely on the team's radar. "They want to see if Henry is a young big they could add to their core group," a source close to Sims said. "I think if Henry keeps playing as he is, they would need to look now." ESPN.com |

So with that being said, should the Knicks give a hard look at the 6-10 Sims, who was with the team during the preseason? One agent who represents a Knick said, "It's a good look." Even though the D-League favors guard play, Sims has dominated. He's currently averaging 16 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 31.8 minutes for the Knicks' D-League team, the Erie BayHawks. In three of his recent games, he scored 22, 20 and then 30 points in a row, and this month, he's had 18, 12 and 10 rebounding nights, including a five-block game. ESPN.com |
