Gani Lawal has signed a one-year contract with Italian club Olimpia Milano of the European League, agent Errol Bennett of Three Eye Sports told RealGM. Lawal’s representatives had been finalizing his agreement in recent days, and the two sides signed Saturday afternoon. Lawal also received strong interest from a Turkish team. With Olimpia Milano, he joins former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Samardo Samuels. Lawal inked a multi-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers early last month, but he played six preseason games, would be given only a limited role in the regular season, and was ultimately released on Oct. 26. Gani Lawal has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a multi-year contract worth partial salary guarantees, league sources told RealGM. A physical, athletic forward at 6-foot-9, Lawal had a breakout professional season with Virtus Roma and received substantial interest from NBA teams entering the offseason. Ultimately, Lawal signed with a Latvian team but was pried out of the deal with the 76ers showing an increasing interest, and the 24-year-old’s representatives negotiated a release in Lithuania this week. Free agent small forward James White, who registered 57 NBA appearances last season with the New York Knicks, is upon penning a single-season deal with Italian Reggio Emila, European sources told Eurobasket. According to one source with knowledge of the terms, White is set to return to Italy for a third stint after playing for Dinamo Sassari during the 2010-11 season and Scavolini Pesaro the following year. With Lakers' training camp scheduled to start around Sept. 28, Bryant will make one last long-distance trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Sept. 26 and 27 for the Kobe Bryant Health & Fitness Weekend in Support of Diabetes Awareness.
