Dyckman Park in New York City is one of those places where on a few warm summer nights there is some crazy run going on. Streetball at it’s best. Which means a screaming announcer, some spectacular shots and everyone looking for their shot. You’re going to find about as much defense as you will fans at the game snacking on foie gras. Which is why J.R. Smith can make the monster dunk and Tyreke Evans the 360 layup. NBCSports.com

Chris Smith, the younger brother of guard J.R. Smith, will join the Knicks, according to a source familiar with the situation. Terms of the contract have not been confirmed. On Wednesday, J.R. tweeted a photo of Chris signing, but the deal won't be official until the Knicks sign a contract and the NBA does its paperwork, typical for a new acquisition. ESPN.com

The Knicks announced Wednesday that they re-signed J.R. Smith and acquired Marcus Camby via a sign-and-trade with the Rockets. While the Knicks didn't disclose the terms of Smith's contract, sources said he inked a two-year contract worth $2.8 million (a 20 percent increase of his previous year's salary using a non-Bird exception). The deal is guaranteed for the first season and contains a player option for the second season. The Knicks received Camby in exchange for Toney Douglas, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan and two future second-round draft picks. ESPN.com

The Lin offer sheet should be a priority because no other move they will make has the ability to spur season-ticket sales than signing “17.’’ The Knicks also will officially sign Jason Kidd, Steve Novak, J.R. Smith, James White and formally execute the sign-and-trade for Marcus Camby. It’s a busy day for general manager Glen Grunwald, who probably won’t match Landry Fields’ three-year, $18.5 million offer sheet from the Raptors, with Smith now aboard. New York Post

Chris Smith, the younger brother of J.R. Smith, believes the New York Knicks shooting guard will return to the team next season. "He loves New York," Chris told ESPN New York by phone on Monday night while playing golf with J.R. in Los Angeles. "He's looking for a great situation and whatever suits him right, that's what he'll do. The main thing is him being happy; that's all that really matters. But if I had to put a guess on it, he'll be back in New York." ESPN.com

June 30, 2012 Updates

As NBA free agency opens tonight (midnight), #Knicks will make heavy overtures to free agent targets such as Steve Nash and Jason Kidd, but also focus in-house with free agents Jeremy Lin, Steve Novak, J.R. Smith and Landry Fields, but don't expect any immediate action. This is a new climate with a new CBA, so its worth seeing what the market sets for each player. Contracts can't be signed until July 11, so the next 10 days will be a nerve-wracking whirlwind. Sulia
