The Spurs found out during Friday morning's shootaround there would be a coaching change for their game against the Miami Heat that night as Austin Toros assistant coach Taylor Jenkins would replace Jacque Vaughn as the team's leader. Though there's nothing official to report, word out of San Antonio camp is Vaughn was in discussions with Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins on Friday and is perhaps the front-runner for the team's head coaching job. The San Antonio Spurs today announced that Jacque Vaughn has been added to the team's coaching staff. He will join the Spurs as an assistant coach. "We are thrilled to welcome Jacque back to the Spurs family," said Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich. "The same attributes that made him the ultimate pro as a player will make him an outstanding coach. He has a great work ethic, is very intelligent and has an extremely high basketball IQ. He'll be a wonderful addition to our coaching staff." NBA.com

Vaughn, who backed up Tony Parker from 2006-2009 and won a championship with the Spurs in 2007, has long been a Popovich favorite.
