Crawford also said that former Blazers guard Brandon Roy will play in his annual summer pro league in Seattle. He continued to say that an NBA comeback is not out of the question for Roy, who was released by the Blazers using the Amnesty Clause back in December. "I think there's definitely a chance," Crawford said. "It's just up to him and how he moves forward in the process, his knees, and whether there's treatments to be done." Blazers Edge |

Jamal Crawford to KJR in Seattle on possible Brandon Roy return: "I wanted to take some time off but he's back playing so I'm like, 'Alright I'm out there with you.' We've been playing and he's looked just as good as he did before the season started last summer. Actually I think he's in better shape now than he was. It's amazing how things work out. I think he's just enjoying it right now & seeing the potential of possibilities of what can happen in the future." Sulia ![]() Alex Kennedy: Jamal Crawford will opt-out this summer, source confirms. ![]() At his home in Seattle, Jamal Crawford gasped when he saw Derrick Rose crumple to the ground Saturday afternoon. "I told my girlfriend right away, 'That's serious,'" Crawford said by phone on Sunday. "There was nobody around him and you could see the pain he was in. He couldn't control it. "He's such a great guy. He's everything that's right with the league. I feel so bad for him. I know that feeling." Chicago Tribune "You feel helpless," Crawford said. "Basketball is always an escape. When it's gone, you have so much time to think. I remember reading about other players and almost crying. You go through all these bad thoughts: 'Why did this happen to me?' "Then, after surgery, you start rehab and start to see some progressions. You get a little more confident as it goes along. And then the last stage is the mental part: 'Can I still do that move? Can I still do that cut?' The actual leg you injure ends up being stronger than the leg that's not injured. But you don't believe that at first. You're scared. You doubt." Chicago Tribune "I remember that game like it was yesterday, even remember Eddie Robinson's monster dunk," Crawford said. "I knew I was ready. But I was still nervous. There's so much anxiety trying to do it again in games. You haven't played in eight or nine months. "During rehab, it's so tough being away from the team. You feel so alone. Derrick has a great family and support system. That definitely helps. You have to lean on them to get through those moments. But even if they come over for a few hours a day, you still have 20, 21 hours by yourself." Chicago Tribune |

If there were a leader, the players' discontent with coach Nate McMillan never would have spread to the point where the team flat out quit on him. The whining whispers of Raymond Felton, in particular to Gerald Wallace, would have been stopped. The sulking of Jamal Crawford would have been stifled. And the indifference of Marcus Camby would have been challenged. Oregonian ![]() Marc J. Spears: Blazers G Jamal Crawford will opt-out of his contract paying $5.25 million next season, source tells @YahooSports. The move will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent for the second year in a row. Crawford has a June 15 deadline to opt-out of the final year of his contract and is expected to exercise it soon. Sulia One uncertainty is the future of guard Jamal Crawford, who has a $5.2 million player option for 2012-13. Under terms of his contract, Crawford has an earlier-than-usual June 15 deadline to decide if he will opt in. "I've thought about it, but I think we'll think a little more about it this summer and see how things go," Crawford said. Oregonian |

Jamal Crawford (player option) Did you think about this being your last practice as a Blazer? “Nah, I haven't thought it about it honestly. You never know what the future holds. I'm just focused on winning tomorrow night.” CSNNW.com |

Veteran point guards such as Kirk Hinrich, Andre Miller and John Lucas top the list of unrestricted free agents. Others, such as guards Jamal Crawford and C.J. Watson, could be available depending how their options play out. And there may be some sleepers out there, too, such as Indiana's A.J. Price. San Jose Mercury-News |

![]() One of the offseason question marks for the Blazers is whether Jamal Crawford will exercise his option to play a second season for the Blazers at $5.2 million. While most players with an option have until June 30 to decide, the Blazers negotiated a June 15 deadline for Crawford so they would know the status of their roster heading into the June 28 draft. Crawford is averaging 13.8 points and 3.2 assists while shooting 38.4 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range. He is leading the NBA with a .929 free throw percentage. Oregonian You can opt out of the contract that would pay you $5.225 million next season in the final year of your deal. Will you exercise the option? CRAWFORD: I honestly don't know. But if I do opt out, it doesn't mean I want to leave Portland. It just means I want long-term security instead of playing on a one-year deal. Portland Tribune Word is it didn't go as smoothly with McMillan as you'd expected. Was he tough to play for? CRAWFORD: I've played for some tough coaches: Larry Brown, Isiah Thomas, Don Nelson. Nate was up there. The whole situation in general was tough, but our relationship was always good. We never got into any arguments. I have such great respect for him as a person. (But) I see myself as a scorer first. He saw me as more of a point guard. Portland Tribune There were charges that some of the players quit on McMillan, that they wanted him fired. CRAWFORD: That's messed up. That's wrong. Whoever says that, that's their opinion. If anything, we put more pressure on ourselves to try to deliver. Nobody quit. I've been in worse situations, on teams that won 15 or 18 games. I've never been a quitter. Portland Tribune |

The broadcaster tweeted that Crawford told the pair that he "needs to be here in Phoenix" with one of his teammates "nearby." Crawford gave an interview to John Canzano of 750 AM The Game in which he explained his side. Here are a few clips. Link to audio here. "I've known Alvin Gentry for years. It was just a conversation between me and him as far as, they were one of the teams that came after me a bit last year. I got some shots going and I was just talking trash to him, like, 'Hey, you could have had me.' It was more of a game type situation, tongue-in-cheek, I was shocked it got that much attention. I've known him for years. I know coach Cartwright, his assistant, for years. It was just a running conversation during the game. There was nothing malicious or crazy about it whatsoever as was reported. "Him, or whoever tweeted it, couldn't name one teammate who heard me say that. It's impossible. That wasn't the conversation... No teammate could say that. Blazers Edge |

![]() Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford will be courted intensely by the Phoenix Suns, a source within the organization tells CSNNW.com. “Aside from Steve (Nash), he's (Crawford) high if not the top free agent priority on their list,” the source said. “He would fill a need at the two-guard position and he knows they want him.” CSNNW.com Broadcaster for the Phoenix Suns, John Bloom, tweeted, "Jamal Crawford just told EJ on press row and Alvin Gentry on the sidelines that he "needs to be here in Phoenix" w/ Blazer teammates nearby." Jamal Crawford: S/o to my bro @LaMarcus Aldridge ...Sad to see his season over with, he was the one constant we knew we could depend on every night..#allstar Twitter Interesting that Jamal Crawford is having a big game against the Warriors. I've heard GSW is on his list of desired locations. Crawford is a good fit for the Warriors in the sense he can play two positions. But a guard is not tops on the Warriors' list. Plus, all they have is the mid-level exception to spend. I don't know if GSW is likes him or not (GM Larry Riley acquired him once, and Crawford's issue was with Don Nelson), but it certainly looks as if Crawford is making a case tonight Sulia |
