Small forward Luke Hancock (formerly of Louisville), swingman Niels Giffey (Connecticut) and power forward James Michael McAdoo (North Carolina) also worked out at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, according to reports. All five are projected to go in the second round or undrafted during the NBA draft on June 26. University of North Carolina junior forward James Michael McAdoo will forego his senior year of college basketball eligibility and enter the 2014 NBA Draft. The Norfolk, Va., native scored 1,232 points and pulled down 640 rebounds in 108 games as a Tar Heel. He averaged 11.4 points and 5.9 rebounds, including 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in two seasons as a starter. He earned second-team All-ACC honors as a sophomore and junior. This season, McAdoo averaged 14.2 points and 6.8 boards in leading UNC to a 24-10 record, a tie for third place in the ACC regular-season standings and the third round of the NCAA Tournament. University of North Carolina freshman forward James Michael McAdoo will return to school to play for the Tar Heels next season. "I've had several discussions about my future plans with my family and Coach Williams and have decided to return to UNC to continue playing for the Tar Heels and continue my education," says McAdoo. "I love being at Carolina and really enjoy competing with and being around my teammates and am excited about what we can do together next season. North Carolina fans eagerly awaiting James Michael McAdoo’s NBA decision will have to continue to wait. His father, Ronnie, informed InsideCarolina.com on Monday morning that a decision about whether or not the freshman forward will enter the NBA Draft has yet to be made. “We hope to have a decision (by) this weekend,” the elder McAdoo said in a text message. James Michael McAdoo’s father, Ronnie, informed InsideCarolina.com on Wednesday that while his son will discuss his NBA options with family this weekend, the current plan is for the forward to return to UNC for his sophomore season. “James is coming home this weekend and we’re going to sit down and just look at the pros and cons and weigh his options right now,” the elder McAdoo said in a phone interview. “I know a lot of these mock drafts have him at No. 6 and No. 7 and in the top-10. “Right now, our intentions and his intention is to be at Carolina next year.” Scout.com
