"None of them are dying to go over there. They prefer for there to be an NBA season," Bartelstein said. "My message to the players (is) that we need to be aggressive in looking for things. We're not just going to be reckless and take a job we don't think is a good fit, but if there's a job we think is good, we have to think about doing it. We deal with this situation on a day-to-day basis and we'll see what happens." Bartelstein's agency represents Pacers Danny Granger, Paul George, Brandon Rush, Dahntay Jones and James Posey. A lot of us are proudly wearing newly purchased James Posey jerseys. Eight days ago, the Pacers' reserve (and Celtics championship ring bearer) brushed off Blake Griffin, who had rattled Indiana's cages for 47 points. Afterward, the Clippers' sci-fi rookie forward approached Posey to shake hands and was left hanging. "He tried to, I declined," Posey declared. "He already gave us 40-something and I'm going to shake his hand and thank him? I'm good." New York Post |

Indiana Pacers veteran James Posey joined the list of players to get agitated by Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin's aggressive style. A day after Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom and Griffin got into it, Posey and the high-flying Griffin exchanged words on several occasions during the Clippers' 114-107 victory over the Pacers. "He plays hard. I play hard. You have to adjust to the game and go about it that way," Posey said. Indianapolis Star |

![]() James Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told SI.com that the veteran swingman will not seek a buyout from Indiana. Posey and point guard Darren Collison were acquired by the Pacers in a four-team trade on Wednesday. While Indiana has a pressing need for Collison, it would appear to have little need for the 33-year-old Posey, who has two years and more than $13 million remaining on his contract. The Pacers used their lottery pick to draft Paul George in June and already have wings Danny Granger, Mike Dunleavy, Dahntay Jones and Brandon Rush on their roster. SI.com |

The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired Trevor Ariza from the Houston Rockets in a trade that sends James Posey and Darren Collison to Indiana, Courtney Lee from New Jersey to Houston, and Troy Murphy from Indiana to New Jersey. NBA.com The deal is low-risk and high-reward for Nets GM Billy King, because it’s rare to land a productive power forward in the prime of his career with an expiring contract, one who is willing to hold a job until rookie Derrick Favors is ready to snatch it from him. "When I looked at the team, and talking with Avery (Johnson) about where we are, I think Derrick Favors is going to be an All-Star down the road," King said. "But I felt we were a little thin at the power forward spot, and looking at Brook Lopez -- and looking at how I think Avery wanted to coach -- one of the players who stood out to me right away was Troy Murphy." Newark Star-Ledger But King’s primary concern was having a giant hole to plug until Favors matures, and Murphy can plug it -- or, the veteran’s expiring $11.9 million salary could be a trade asset if Favors develops faster than expected. "He’s a player who could start if need be, teach Derrick about the power forward position, and play with Brook. A proven pro, a great rebounder, can shoot the 3," King said of Murphy. "It was something I felt when you have a chance to get a big man in this league, you have to go for it because there’s not a lot of big men in this league. You win with big guys and you win with rebounding." Newark Star-Ledger Sam Amick: The agent for Courtney Lee and Troy Murphy, Dan Fegan, confirms ESPN.com report on four-team, five-player trade to FanHouse. Twitter In the proposed deal, the Houston Rockets will send Ariza to the Hornets, who in turn will send Collison and James Posey to the Pacers. The Pacers will send Troy Murphy to the New Jersey Nets. And the Nets will send Courtney Lee to the Rockets. ESPN.com According to the sources the Rockets, Hornets, Pacers and Nets have agreed to the details of the trade and are awaiting a trade call with the league this afternoon to make it official. The deal, if approved, could fill some long-term needs for the Hornets, Pacers and Nets, as well as provide needed salary relief for the Rockets. ESPN.com For the Hornets, while moving Collison leaves the team without a credible backup for Chris Paul, the addition of Ariza gives them a young, athletic wing entering his prime. The Hornets are hoping that the addition of Ariza quiets the complaints address Paul's concerns about the team's commitment winning by showing that they're willing to spend money to get better. Ariza signed a six year, $35 million dollar deal with the Rockets last summer. For the Pacers, landing Collison gives them the young starting point guard they've been looking for and adds another piece to a young core of players including Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and promising rookies Paul George and Lance Stephenson. ESPN.com Marc J. Spears: No draft picks involved in four-way trade. Twitter |
