Boston Celtics rookie James Young underwent X-rays Thursday to determine the severity of a right shoulder subluxation he suffered Wednesday night while on assignment with the Maine Red Claws. “They’re doing more tests to see the extent of the injury,” head coach Brad Stevens said after Thurday’s practice. “Those can be very, very short-term things or they can be a little bit longer. The Boston Celtics announced today that they have recalled rookies Dwight Powell and James Young from the Maine Red Claws. In the Red Claws 117-87 victory over Delaware on Wednesday, Dwight Powell tallied 19 points on 7-10 (.700) shooting from the field and nine rebounds in 23 minutes of action. Powell is averaging 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in 32.3 minutes per game in four contests with the Red Claws this season. NBA.com

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have recalled guard/forward James Young from the Maine Red Claws. In the Red Claws 120-102 win over the Delaware 87ers on Sunday, Young scored a team-high tying 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, had two assists and blocked two shots in 34 minutes. In two appearances with the Red Claws this season, he is averaging 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block in 34.9 minutes per game. NBA.com

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have assigned guard/forward James Young to the Maine Red Claws. Young has appeared in one game for the Red Claws this season, an 81-80 win over Fort Wayne on November 16. The rookie scored 21 points and pulled down five rebounds in 36 minutes of action. He made his NBA debut against the Houston Rockets on November 1 and has averaged 3.0 points on 3.9 minutes over three appearances this season. NBA.com

Jeff Green returns as the likely small forward starter and Evan Turner will receive minutes at the position, too. Rookie James Young might not be ready, but if he earns time, it will only further the crowding on the wing. Apparently understanding Stevens could cut his minutes average (24.4 last year) significantly, Wallace appears open to whatever comes his way. “He shared the same sentiments with me that he’s shared to all of you: he’s willing to do whatever to help this team,” Stevens said. “And that’s a great thing. He’s been a great veteran and that’s a real positive because nothing’s guaranteed from a standpoint. But we have a ton of depth one through three.” Wallace explained: “I’m here for supportive veteran leadership. Whatever the coach needs me to do. We’ve already talked about it.
