The Wizards have decided to decline the fourth-year options for forwards Jan Vesely and Chris Singleton, according to people with knowledge of the situation. Vesely and Singleton, the Wizards’ first-round picks in 2011, will now both be unrestricted free agents following this season. Washington has until Oct. 31 to make those decisions official. Vesely needs to make the most of the next few weeks, with the Wizards having until Oct. 31 to pick up his fourth-year option for the 2014-15 season. Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld hasn’t revealed his leanings, but Vesely is just 23 and teams are often willing to take more chances on big men because they often develop at a slower pace. “I’m not thinking about it right now,” Vesely said of his option, “so whatever happens, happens.” Washington Post

Kevin Seraphin attempted to mimic the play, cocking his arm far behind his head as he stood in front of Nene, but Eric Maynor shook his head and offered a different explanation. Nene finally chipped in from his own angle. They didn’t exactly agree on how it went down, but Wizards players agreed on one thing after practice: Jan Vesely has just thrown down one of the nastiest dunks that they’ve seen during an intense scrimmage. “It was disgusting,” forward Trevor Ariza said, scrunching his face. “It looked like a nuclear explosion.
