The Knicks still need to add a center to offset the loss of Mozgov. They hope to pursue Jared Jeffries if he gets bought out by Houston, former Knicks free agent Earl Barron, or a D-League player. The bigger picture to the trade is having a shot to add a third superstar, either Paul or Utah's Deron Williams in 2012 to compete against Miami's trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Billups will replace Felton at point guard, and the club does not look at the swap as a downgrade for the short term. The Knicks still need to add a center to offset the loss of Mozgov. Jared Jeffries in Houston supposedly is a name mentioned about returning to the Knicks. Perhaps T.J. Ford is he can find a place where someone would want him for short term. You’d say Michael Redd, though it’s questionable whether he can play. He is expected to return to try with the Bucks this week. Maybe Morris Peterson and always Marcus Banks, wherever he is now. It’s not a big field to choose from, but sometimes one guy can make a difference, like P.J. Brown for the Celtics a few years back. And in the Bulls case they may finally have become one of those teams with their surge of late that players in that situation would want to come. NBA.com

After each game-day's shootaround, Rockets forward Jared Jeffries puts himself through a long session of drills. Before each game, he goes through another workout. He then returns to his place on the inactive list and Rockets bench, waiting for a chance to put the extra work to use somewhere with an eye on next week's trade deadline. "I got a bigger picture in mind," Jeffries said. "I know the trade deadline is coming up. I know something will be resolved either here or somewhere else. I know this isn't going to be the end of my career. You go through rough stretches in your career, times you wish didn't happen, but I have a bigger picture in mind. I want to play this year and I want to be part of a playoff team in the future." Houston Chronicle

Jeffries has played in just 18 games this season, and just once in the past 12 games. He said he has not asked for a trade or discussed a buyout. "I don't ask for stuff like that," Jeffries said. "I control what I can control. I can control how good a shape I'm in, what I do and my mindset." Houston Chronicle
