Sutch Sullinger: “I’m just talking about some of the people that were on ESPN and in the national scene that, instead of reporting the news, they were trying to be the news. Some of the people were over the top with some of the things that they said about another human being instead of just keeping it on the professional side of opinions. It’s hard to hear so you don’t watch it.” Boston Herald

Another concern about Sullinger is that he may not be tall enough for his post game to translate to the NBA. Ainge addressed that as well. "Length is an issue," said Ainge. "He has good width. There were a lot of these same kinds of issues with Glen Davis when he came into the league. Guys that are smart and have a good touch make the adjustment." On being able to keep up with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, Ainge said, "Sullinger's not a sprinter by any stretch, but he's a rebounder, and you've got to have the ball to run." Boston Globe

According to NBA sources, the concerns about the 6-foot-9-inch Sullinger’s back are minor, and the Celtics will find out more when their doctors examine him in the coming days. Team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Sullinger has a “disk’’ issue but expects him to play in the Orlando Summer League beginning July 9. Boston Globe

“The fact that Jared Sullinger fell to us is just fortunate,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said, “Last year he would have been a top-five pick, all year he was a top-10 pick. The fact that he kept falling to us gives us a rebounder, high IQ player, great passer, and a very good shooter from the outside. Gives us some physical force. Boston Globe

He said Sullinger has seen a respected back and spine specialist who isn't nearly as alarmed as some teams, insisting that even the most extreme of solutions here would only keep him on the shelf for a few months. And after downplaying the severity of the situation in our interview last week, Falk continued to warn the many general managers who are thinking about passing on this problematic prospect. "I'm a big investor in bonds, because I don't like to take big risks," Falk said. "I'm not like these NBA general managers who risk their career on drafting guys with potential. I like to buy bonds. Jared Sullinger is a Triple-A bond. "He's a can't-miss, solid guy, a great rebounder, great shooter, a very intelligent guy, a coach's son. He may not be able to jump as high as some other guys, but the last time I looked, jumping is not a major prerequisite for playing power forward in the NBA." SI.com

It looks like Jared Sullinger isn't the only big time NBA draft prospect to have medical issues hurt his stock. Multiple league sources say that NBA team doctors are concerned about a meniscus issue in Baylor forward Perry Jones III's knee. ESPN.com

I asked Sullinger if he was disappointed about not receiving a green room invitation. “No,’’ Sullinger said. “Not at all. I really could care less.’’ Racine Journal-Times

Ohio State power forward Jared Sullinger told me Monday night he won’t be working out for the Bucks before the draft. A close friend of Duke guard Austin Rivers also told me Monday that Rivers won’t be coming to Milwaukee , either. Racine Journal-Times
