With about two weeks yet to go before the season even starts, the Cavaliers are being bit by the injury bug. Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Jarrett Jack has inflammation in his left knee and will be out 10 days, the team announced Monday. Jack signed a four-year, $25 million contract with the Cavs in July after playing a prominent role as the third guard for the Golden State Warriors last season. He averaged 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists a game and finished third in NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award voting. USA Today Sports

Of all the ways to describe his new free agent guard, the best Cavs coach Mike Brown could come up with in describing Jarrett Jack is “crusty.” He meant it, of course, in that grizzled, tough veteran sort of way — not the smelly, stale form that is only cured with a bar of soap and some hot water. “He’s kind of crusty. There’s not a lot glamorous when you look at him,” Brown said. “He’s not trying to look good or look beautiful out there. He just wants to win and get the job done.” Akron Beacon Journal

There are still some good people out there. Blazers coach Terry Stotts is outstanding; the best coach I have ever dealt with. And I have tremendous respect for Wesley Matthews, who cares so deeply and works so dilligently at his craft. I also still have a fondness for Batum. And through the years I cherish my relationships with Dale Davis, Stoudamire, James Jones, Joel Przybilla, Jarrett Jack ... there are some good guys. But somewhere in this bizarre transition when everyone has a blog, and people who can write 140 characters are considered journalists, the job lost its allure. Often times it's not about being right, it's about being the loudest. It's not about being good, it's about being first. And it's not about telling the real story, it's about being friends with the players. Oregonian

The Cleveland Cavaliers' signing of Jarrett Jack for a reported $25.2 million over four years has been mostly welcomed by the Cleveland faithful, as Jack provides some bench scoring as well as the ability to allow Kyrie Irving to play off-ball for extended amounts of time in smaller lineups. At least one fan, however, was not so pleased about Jack joining his favorite team. The fan, who goes by the Twitter handle of @assad_yousuf, tweeted his displeasure at Jack about the contract. What Yousuf probably did not expect was a response from the eight-year NBA vet: FOH urkle!!!!RT @assad_yousuf: @Jarrettjack03 #badchoice #smh #cavs #really? FOXSports.com
