Jarrett Jack: Kenyon will do some stuff that will make you say 'I don't want to spend time with him.' But if you want to get him on board, you've got to go reach out to him. You can't just leave him over there, because guys like him are already feel like an outcast. I played with a guy like Reggie Evans. Guys who probably aren't going to do something to get you 20 points. But the thing he does, you've got to make sure they're appreciated. Not saying you've got to go and wipe their nose all the time because they don't want you to do that either. But you might want to call his number every now and again. And as a point guard, that's the things you kind of got to do, you've got to know personalities and get familiar with everybody. That's one thing I try to do, I try to build relationships with everybody and be able to kick it with anybody at any time. San Jose Mercury-News

Guard Jarrett Jack talked for 30 mins about bringing toughness and defense to the Warriors. Then he offered this opinion on Dwight Howard: "I’m not a fan of what is going on in today’s game with guys saying 'I’m only going to go here.’ I think that’s kind of corny. Look at this stuff that’s going on with Dwight. It’s crazy. He’s got a whole franchise in limbo. It’s kind of corny to see all of these guys teaming up. I’m not fond of that. I’m not that dude." The Warriors acquired veteran point guard Jarrett Jack from the New Orleans Hornets as part of the trade that will send Dorell Wright to Philadelphia. The Hornets received the draft rights to 2006 second-round pick Edin Bavcic in return. A 6-foot-11 forward, Bavcic, 28, was selected 56th overall by the Raptors and traded his rights to Philadelphia for cash the night of the ‘06 draft. Bavcic, 28, played in Greece last season. A Warriors source has told The Chronicle that the team is “close but not done” on a deal to acquire guard Jarrett Jack from the Hornets. Jack is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-best 15.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. The Hornets are trading him to free up payroll room to match an offer sheet that Eric Gordon is expected to sign with the Suns, according to ESPN. It also frees up a starting spot for point guard Austin Rivers, New Orelans’ 10th overall pick in this year’s draft. San Francisco Chronicle

The trade that sent Dorell Wright to Philadelphia morphed into a three-team discussion last night, with the Warriors potentially landing point guard Jarrett Jack from New Orleans. A source confirmed that the talks have progressed. But the source cautioned the deal was fragile and could fall apart. Wright would still go to Philadelphia. New Orleans would get a $5.1 million trade exception and Bosnian power forward Edin Bavcic. Golden State would get Jack, one of the most respected little-known guards in the NBA. With Jack unavailable the rest of the way, Greivis Vasquez will start again at point guard. New Orleans does not have another point guard on the roster. Monty Williams said the Hornets will try to sign a backup point guard who can be ready to play eight hours from now against the Lakers. “We need to find someone who can do for us what Greivis did off the bench (when Jack was starting),” Williams said. “We may have to go point guard-by-committee a little bit.” Hornets.com

New Orleans Hornets guard Jarrett Jack said Thursday that X-rays taken of his sore right foot and ankle on Wedneday night revealed no structural damage, though his right instep area remains swollen and he is experiencing pain in the foot. Jack missed Wedneday night's win over the Denver Nuggets, after sitting out last Thursday night's game in Portland before returning to the court against the Lakers on Saturday and Phoenix Suns on Sunday. "If I took this ice bag off, you'd definitely see the swelling," Jack said Thursday before the Hornets departed for San Antonio where they'll play the Spurs on Friday night. "There's some pain there, and in the back of my ankle. I'm trying to get as much treatment as much as humanly possible." New Orleans Times-Picayune

Ariza, who lives in Los Angeles, said he did not try to entice any free agents to consider New Orleans. However, Jack said he told some free agents about the benefits of playing in New Orleans. “I live in Atlanta, so there are various guys that come in and out of the gym, and I’m always throwing New Orleans out there as a nice landing pad. But I’m confident our front office will be able to handle that and are up to the task to do that and get ready for the season.’’ New Orleans Times-Picayune
