Former Knick Jerome Jordan will be playing on the team's summer league squad in 2013, but he also envisions a key role with the organization entering next season. And he has a confident message for them. "I'm ready to play," Jordan told ESPNNewYork.com. "It was a tough year with the team [in 2011-12]. There was a lot of pressure. I'm just trying to be physically and mentally ready to play on both ends of the floor. Defensively, block shots and rebound, and then on the offensive end, just try to be comfortable out there." A strong showing at the D-League Showcase propels Jerome Jordan to the No. 1 spot in our Call-Up Rankings, as voted by 10 NBADL executives and coaches. The Jamaican center, who played with the Knicks during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, has been excellent on the boards with averages of 15.6 ppg and 7.9 rpg. Look for Jordan to get a look from teams such as Minnesota, where the injury bug has been virulent among big men. HoopsHype

An Internet report last week had Jerome Jordan's bags packed and checked for China. But the 7-foot center was busy trying to navigate how to simply land in Memphis. Jordan spent the past week of Grizzlies training camp making a strong case for a spot on the roster. So any rumor that Jordan had agreed to other employment was news to him. "I know my agent has been talking to a bunch of teams. You know, as a worst-case scenario," Jordan said. "I don't know if there's a deal, per se, in China. But it's about making it in the NBA this year. I'm about trying to make it in the league and establish myself. I want to be around a long time." Memphis Commercial Appeal

After spending last season with the New York Knicks, big man Jerome Jordan is currently an unrestricted free agent. Jordan was traded to the Houston Rockets as part of the Marcus Camby trade, but was waived by the Rockets several days later. Now, Jordan is working out at Impact Basketball in Los Angeles and waiting to see what his future holds. “It was kind of tough, especially because it was my first time being traded,” Jordan said. “I was looking forward to going to Houston and playing, but then soon after I got waived. The only thing I can control is working hard. I’m just going to keep working hard and be ready when the next opportunity comes.” “I’m just waiting. I know my agent is talking and working for me. I’m trying to wait it out and just keep working. I want to be in a good position to play and compete for a back-up spot. I’m going to keep working hard and show teams that I can play.” HoopsWorld
