Because he is among the best 3-point shooters in the league — he makes 49.3 percent from the arc — Fredette figures to attract much attention once the waiver process begins. Because Fredette played at BYU, he has long been linked to the Jazz, but sources indicated that Utah showed no interest in trading for him last week, even at a rock-bottom price. Sporting News

The Sacramento Kings and guard Jimmer Fredette are finalizing a buyout agreement on his contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Fredette, the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, will be a free agent should he clear NBA waivers. Yahoo! Sports

Nevertheless, he has struggled to find his niche with the Kings. Still, there are expected to be several teams with interest in signing him for the rest of the season, league sources said. Fredette, 25, has averaged 5.9 points per game for the Kings this season – and seven in his three-year NBA career. Yahoo! Sports

Here's Malone told the media in New York last night when asked about Jimmer Fredette's 24-point performance of the Kings' bench last night: “I give him credit, this hasn’t been an easy season for Jimmer and I realize that. At times his playing time has been a little inconsistent. But one thing I’ve been telling him lately, and I sent him a text the other night, is that I still believe in him. I need him to come in and play with confidence and be aggressive. He changed the game tonight. It was about to be a 25-point game and his ability to come in that first half and get us back into it was huge. The first six minutes of the quarter, we outscored them 17-4. So, great defense and Jimmer carried the load offensively. We don’t win this game without Jimmer.” Sulia

The Kings continue to be active in trade talks. The two most mentioned names are guards Marcus Thornton and Jimmer Fredette. Combined they become an interesting salary cap value that could return a major salary player. The problem is there does not seem to be a whole lot of interest in either player. The Kings have been linked to Denver in an Andre Miller-Jimmer Fredette swap and that may still go down as Denver gets closer to the deadline. The Kings already triggered a major move to get forward Rudy Gay from Toronto and it seems that they are continuing to try and add meaningful players to the roster. The Kings have no shortage of interesting trade chips, the question is what can they truly get done at the deadline. Basketball Insiders

Nevertheless, I'm told the Kings are looking to buy good players, not sell them. But the Kings don't have a lot of assets that people covet at the moment. Marcus Thornton, Jason Thompson, Jimmer Fredette and Carl Landry would all be available for teams making a run at the playoffs, but no one is beating down the doors for those guys. ESPN.com

Jimmer Fredette has had an up and down start not only to this season, but also to his NBA career. His minutes have yo-yoed back and forth during his time with the Sacramento Kings. Lately, that’s started to change and Fredette is finally seeing some consistent action on the floor. He may not be playing the minutes his diehard fans would like, but Fredette now knows he’s part of the rotation. That may be one of the reasons for the third-year guard’s improved comfort level on the floor according to Chris Jent. Among his many duties, the Kings lead assistant often works on shooting with Fredette and the other guards as well the wings during pregame warmups. Cowbell Kingdom
