HoopsHype Joe Ingles rumors
While his stats don’t possess the wow factor commonly associated with players headed to the NBA, injuries have seen Joe Ingles thrust into a big role for Barcelona Regal this season as the team hunts for another Euroleague title. "There's some NBA teams that have shown a lot of interest," Ingles said. "That's definitely the goal after this year, to get over there, and I'm going to have a fair crack at it either way. "If I can get a contract or if it's going to training camps or whatever it is, I'm going to take a shot at it. I'm 25, turning 26, and the window is closing, not too fast but it is closing I'm coming off a pretty consistent three years at one of the best teams in Europe." CraveOnline
While the minutes have been limited for him playing behind Euro basketball maintays like Juan Carlos Navarro and Pete Mickeal, Ingles says he's relished his experience with Barça. The NBA, a lifelong dream for Ingles, could very well come next. "My dream (growing up) was playing in the NBA," Ingles said during the Spanish Cup that takes place this week in Vitoria. "Also playing in the Olympics with Australia. That's huge for us. But obviously everybody that plays basketball wants to play in the NBA one day." HoopsHype
Joe (Ingles) is my guy… He continues to get offers, but most of them are non-guaranteed deals or training camp invites and he’s making decent money Internationally. I know Joe wants to play in the NBA, but he’s not going to give up the bird in the hand for a non-guaranteed one in the bush. HoopsWorld
Asked if he thought Ingles could break into the NBA Mills said, "No question, he's definitely an NBA Player. "For us to do well, he was going to need to have a good tournament and that's what he did, so very proud to play with him and all the boys are very happy with him." Ingles revealed his agent had already fielded calls from NBA parties. "He didn't tell me the specifics, he just said there was some interest there," Ingles told AAP. "I kind of told him to be quiet and I'm going to focus on Barcelona for one more year and see what happens after that. Sydney Morning Herald
Joe Ingles will have NBA scouts knocking on his door after a thoroughbred performance against a Dream Team ignited by the Kobe and LeBron show. Australian coach Brett Brown singled out the versatile Barcelona-based Ingles, 24, as worthy of playing beside basketball's elite on a regular basis after he looked at home against the US team's $150 million-a-year cast at the Olympics yesterday. The final 33-point margin between the teams in London did not reflect how the Boomers had scrapped magnificently for three-and-a-half quarters or the rousing 11-0 scoring run just after half-time that forward Ingles and Patty Mills initiated. "I think the NBA will be paying Joe attention, especially after these Olympics," said Brown, who serves as assistant coach on the San Antonio Spurs where Mills plays. "Joe's got a body like (Detroit Pistons' small forward) Tayshaun Prince. He's long, left-handed, multi-faceted at guard or small forward, he's stepped up in defence to take personal pride in guarding people and you've seen his competitive spirit here. "He's on the up and up." FOXSports.com
