James is perhaps Manziel's most powerful ally. Manziel is represented by LRMR, the marketing firm owned by James and run by longtime friend and fellow Akron native Maverick Carter. "I haven’t talked to him," James said of Manziel following the Cavs' 97-84 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night. "I found out about the information when you guys found out about it. If a guy is seeking help, as a friend, I support him and want him to get better. As his friends and family, we all believe in him and think this is a good step if that’s the route he wants to take." The legal system-abusing prankster who filed an insane lawsuit against Johnny Manziel has apparently struck again -- and this time, his target is Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. TMZ Sports has learned ... Cuban was sued in District Court in Northern Texas by someone claiming to be Lisa Lazzari ... the sister of former "Shark Tank" entrepreneur Lani Lazzari (owner of Simple Sugars body care company). In the suit, the plaintiff demands $15 MILLION and makes bogus and comically outrageous claims against Cuban. TMZ.com
Dwight Howard is still in his first season as a Houston Rocket, but he’s already thoroughly embraced his new home. After the Rockets’ Thursday blowout win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Howard hung out with Houston Texans running back Arian Foster and former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. For The Win
LeBron James has always seen Johnny Manziel as a kindred spirit, consistently overanalyzed, sometimes harshly scrutinized. He's also known to be open to mentoring younger athletes, so he was receptive when a call came from people close to the Texas A&M quarterback. "They reached out to me when he was going through a lot of off-the-field things, that I thought was just overblown," James said. "He's not the only college kid that's ever went to a frat party, or the only college kid that ever had fun. But obviously, he's Johnny Manziel so it's blown out of proportion." Bleacher Report
Yes, they're together now. Wednesday, reports surfaced that Manziel had signed with James' childhood friend and business manager, Maverick Carter, and the LRMR agency. "Is it official yet?" James asked before Thursday's game against the Knicks. "Maybe?" Assured that it was public knowledge, James elaborated. "At the end of the day, he's an unbelievable competitor," James said. "And we love what he brings to the table as far as being a football player and as far as being a young man that's trying to strive for greatness. So we're just happy to be a friend of his and be able to help him." Bleacher Report
