After a rocky start to his career that has been challenged by hip surgery and two trades since being selected No. 6 out of Syracuse in the 2009 NBA draft, Jonny Flynn is seeking a fresh start this offseason and just might find it with the Los Angeles Lakers. Flynn has identified six teams -- the Lakers, Portland, Phoenix, Toronto, Chicago, and Brooklyn -- as potential destinations and should find mutual interest from the potential suitors, according to a source close to the unrestricted free agent point guard. Did you want a change of scenery? Jonny Flynn: "You definitely look forward to it. In this league, it's all about timing. Being in a situation at the right time for yourself. It's a lot of guys in this league that can play basketball but you would never know because they're in a situation that doesn't best suit them. A new change of scenery will do us right .IT's a great organization, definitely coming to a city with a great fanbase. It's almost like all the stars are lining up. I can't wait to get out on the court and play." Blazers Edge

Pau Gasol: He probably has the best chance of being traded among the current and former All-Star players. The Lakers are woefully short in the backcourt and with depth and athleticism. He was in that aborted preseason deal to the Rockets, and their interest is said to remain the most significant. The deal that’s been most speculated is Gasol for Luis Scola and Kyle Lowry. The Rockets are said to be high on Goran Dragic and Jonny Flynn to replace Lowry, and the Lakers desperately need a point guard under Mike Brown’s system. This is a deal, denied for now, that benefits both teams and seems likely to be made. Chances of Gasol being dealt: 75 percent. NBA.com

Flynn, drafted No. 6 overall by the Timberwolves in 2009, was traded to the Rockets in June during the 2011 draft after two unsuccessful seasons in Minnesota. The Wolves drafted Rubio No. 5 overall in 2009, but he opted to play two more years in Spain before coming to the NBA this season. "I let that (the Rubio talk) get to me too much," Flynn said. "Everybody was always talking about Ricky coming here. My two years here was like five years to me. What I went through taught me a lot about life." St. Paul Pioneer Press
