Though centre Greg Stiemsma (below) has been seen as the favourite to earn Toronto’s final roster spot since Day 1, the other two contenders are still in the mix. Head coach Dwane Casey said Sunday that swingman Jordan Hamilton and point guard Will Cherry have also impressed the team and no decision is forthcoming. “We’re not in a hurry whatsoever,” Casey said. “All three men have done an excellent job in practice. Will Cherry is as tough a little competitor as you can find. Jordan Hamilton is a great scorer and really fighting on the defensive end and Greg Stiemsma is a solid, solid big man, veteran big man who has done some great things in the post. It may go down to the wire, the last day of camp because those guys have deserved it.” Toronto Sun

The Heat is serious about adding another shooting guard and a big man if it can find two good ones willing to take the veteran’s minimum. After recently working out Jordan Hamilton (who signed with Toronto) and Chris Douglas-Roberts, the Heat also has inquired about Leandro Barbosa and Jordan Crawford, who both hold appeal to Miami. But for those who are apparently so anxious to know what this means – A trade? Someone getting waived? The Raptors thumbing their noses at the rules? – take this into consideration. I was talking to someone in the gym about this yesterday and the word is this: They have no clue what they’re going to do, they just signed these guys and they don’t have to do anything until the season starts and anyone who’s getting worked up about a “next move” needs to sit back and take a deep breath.
