After sitting out two weeks to rehabilitate a herniated disc in his back, Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill will return to the lineup against the Los Angeles Clippers, a league source told Yahoo! Sports. Hill is expected to play Wednesday against the Clippers, and likely again in the final preseason game on Thursday against Sacramento in preparation for opening night on Oct. 30 against Dallas. Yahoo! Lost in the hubbub surrounding Dwight Howard’s debut is the Lakers’ other big man with back problems. Forward Jordan Hill also was supposed to be on the court Sunday, but his comeback was delayed indefinitely. Hill returned to practice Friday after being sidelined since Oct. 8 because of a herniated disk Oct. 8. But the 6-foot-10 post player was not cleared to play against Sacramento in the Lakers’ sixth exhibition. The news from trainer Gary Vitti caught Coach Mike Brown by surprise. “I thought Jordan was going to be playing tonight,” Brown said. “He practiced today and he practiced yesterday and he looked really good in practice yesterday.” Orange County Register

After playing in about two-thirds of Thursday's practice involving non-contact drills, forward Jordan Hill said he's hoping he can play in the team's last two preseason games. But Brown said Hill hasn't been cleared for contact drills. "It's definitely important for me and everybody," said Hill, who's highly touted for his energy off the bench. Despite playing in about two-thirds of Thursday's practice involving non-contact drills, Lakers forward Jordan Hill hasn't shown enough improvement in his herniated disk for him to make the next step in rehabbing his herniated disk. "They said he did a nice job for it being non contact," Lakers Coach Mike Brown said regarding the training staff.following the Lakers' shootaround Friday at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The Lakers play there will play the Sacramento Kings here tonight in their fifth preseason game. "What they're looking at now is they will continue to evaluate him and decide when they can go from having no contact to him having contact. But right now, Jordan can't have contact." Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill returned to practice Thursday, less than two weeks after being diagnosed with a herniated disk in his back. Hill was not cleared for any contact and will not play in the Lakers' exhibition game in Las Vegas against the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill said he didn't need surgery to repair the herniated disk in his back. Hill suffered his injury in the Lakers' exhibition game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night. He is expected to sit out a week, then be re-evaluated. Hill said he cautiously was optimistic he'd be ready to go for the Lakers' season opener Oct. 30 against the Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill, the top frontline backup to All-Stars Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol, doesn't need surgery for a herniated disc in his back and will return to the lineup before the Oct. 30 season opener, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Hill, 25, will undergo core strength training on his back to rehabilitate the injury, sources said. Los Angeles Lakers forward Jordan Hill was diagnosed today with a herniated disc (L5, S1) in his back, it was announced by the team. Hill, who scored 10 points in last night’s loss to the Golden State Warriors in Fresno, was examined by back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins Jr. Hill will be re-evaluated in a week and an update on his condition will be given at that time. L.A. Lakers star Jordan Hill will not go to jail for allegedly choking his ex-GF during a nuclear argument in Houston back in February after striking a sweet plea deal with prosecutors ... TMZ has learned. According to clerk at Harris County Criminal Court in Houston, TX ... Hill plead no contest to the charge this morning and in exchange was given a 1-year deferred sentence and a $500 fine. In other words, if Hill stays out of trouble for the next year and pays the fine, the whole case will be wiped from his record. TMZ.com

The Lakers took another significant step toward improving their lackluster second unit when power forward Jordan Hill agreed Friday to a two-year contract reportedly worth a little less than $8 million. Hill's agent, Kevin Bradbury, revealed the agreement via Twitter. Hill, who turns 25 next Friday, also had been considering a three-year deal with Minnesota, but he decided to stick with the Lakers. "Proud to announce Jordan Hill will be returning to the Lakers next season to join Steve Nash in trying to bring a championship to L.A.," Bradbury wrote on Twitter. Los Angeles Daily News
