Detroit Pistons center Josh Harrellson has missed the last two games with a sore left knee. An MRI examination completed on Thursday afternoon revealed a small tear of the meniscus in the left knee. Course of treatment for the injury will include rest and rehabilitation under the direction of Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander. Harrellson will be re-evaluated following the NBA All-Star break. NBA.com

Harrellson is the only one of 15 Pistons players on a non-guaranteed contract, but if he makes it another week, that status changes. Friday is the cutoff when all contracts become guaranteed this season. "I haven't really been thinking about it," Harrellson said. "I know it's coming up soon. But hopefully, I've done enough in the games I've gotten to play to show him I can play, and hopefully I can stay here." Booth Newspapers

Harrellson's $884,000 contract is the third-smallest on the team, ahead of second-round rookies Peyton Siva and Tony Mitchell. He certainly has offered some value return in the last two games. But Harrellson remains the only Pistons player who is essentially an at-will employee, awaiting Jan. 10, when his contract would be guaranteed for the remainder of the season if still on the active roster. "I don't know what's going to happen," Harrellson said. "I know they're happy with what I do. It's tough getting minutes behind two All-Stars, Andre (Drummond) and Greg (Monroe), so it's tough to find minutes there. I know they're happy right now but you never know what's going to happen. I thought Miami was happy with me, too, and they changed up at the last minute. So you just never know." Booth Newspapers

The Heat released Harrellson on Jan. 7, turned his roster spot into Chris Andersen, and went on to win a second consecutive championship with bench help from the distinctively mohawked and tattooed "Birdman." Harrellson spent the rest of the season in Puerto Rico and China, rebuilding his NBA status, until the Pistons signed him to a non-guaranteed contract during the offseson. He didn't receive a championship ring because he wasn't on the playoff roster. "I was there six months," Harrellson said. "There were guys there three months who got one." Booth Newspapers

Josh Harrellson: “After my workout, I was talking to Mr. Dumars and he was saying, ‘All the coaches like you. Everybody wants you to be our 15th guy and we’re going to make that happen.’ Right then and there, I kind of knew they had interest and I know they were going to submit some kind of offer. I didn’t know if it was going to be ‘Come to camp and make the team like you have the previous two years,’ but they liked me enough to guarantee a little money and that gives me confidence in them and a better relationship.” NBA.com

The Detroit Pistons may or may not have found the final member of their roster -- Josh Harrellson. At this point it's only well-informed speculation as DBBer mike223 noted in comments, Harrellson's cousin, Mackenzie Nelson (@mackenzien22), tweeted a congratulations on Harrellson signing a deal with the Detroit Pistons. I would link to the tweet but it appears she has deleted it. I can confirm that the tweet existed as I read it for myself earlier today but didn't take a screen cap. It read " Congrats to my cousin @BigJorts55 for signing with the Detroit pistons." Detroit Bad Boys
