HoopsHype Josh McRoberts rumors
The Miami Heat will apply to the NBA for a disabled-player exception to help replace forward Josh McRoberts, who is expected to be out for the remainder of season with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Under NBA rules, if McRoberts' injury is deemed by an independent NBA physician to be deemed season ending, the Heat then would receive half of McRoberts' 2014-15 salary for a replacement player, either through a trade or free-agent signing. For now, the injury is being cast as one that would have McRoberts out the balance of 2014-15. "Likely will be out for the season," coach Erik Spoelstra said after Tuesday's shootaround at Baruch College, in advance of Tuesday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. "We'll find out more when he has the surgery on Monday or Tuesday. But we're proceeding as if he won't there." South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Josh McRoberts’ availability for opening night has long been in question, and Miami placed him on its inactive list heading into Wednesday’s game against Washington. Rookie shooting guard Andre Dawkins also is inactive, but healthy. Palm Beach Post
