After having a promising season cut short in January by a season-ending stress fracture in his right tibia, New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday was back penetrating between defenders Thursday at the team's practice facility. For the first time in six months after requiring surgery and having an extended rehabilitation schedule, he was finally cleared for contact work against his teammates this week for volunteer offseason drills. There is a sense around the league that the Pelicans would be open to moving Eric Gordon and possibly Austin Rivers; however, deals involving Ryan Anderson, Tyreke Evans or Jrue Holiday are not of much interest to the Pelicans and without question former top pick Anthony Davis is off the board. In an interview on the Pelican’s Web site Holiday says he expects to be cleared and be back on the court working out in August, which means he will be ready to go for training camp and the regular season. Holiday said he hasn’t done any work on the court since the surgery for a stress fracture in his shin, with the focus on rebuilding muscle around it. Which makes sense. NBCSports.com
