Julyan Stone is still recovering from his hip surgery, and today Nuggets coach George Karl said his No. 3 point guard could be sidelined all the way until January. The Nuggets love the undrafted 6-6 point guard who, as a rookie last season, showcased a strong work ethic and the ability to play the point at such height. Still, he didn’t play much last season and probably wouldn’t have played too much this fall, but the team continues to develop Stone, who works out often with the touted assistant coach John Welch. Michigan State forward Draymond Green, another first-round prospect, also was supposed to work out for Denver on Wednesday but pulled out due to illness, the team said. Denver worked out four other second-round prospects, notably Orlando Johnson, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from UC Santa Barbara who is close friends with Nuggets reserve Julyan Stone. Denver Post |

Lamar Odom’s $8.2 million contract is guaranteed at just $2.4 million. If he can be included in a trade that still maintains Dallas’ cap room, then so be it. Otherwise, expect Odom to be cut loose. Additionally, Vince Carter’s next two seasons ($3.1 and $3.2 million) aren’t fully guaranteed. Brandon Wright’s $993k isn’t locked in either. The Denver Nuggets haven’t always gotten consistent play from Timofey Mozgov but at $3.1 million ($1.4 million guaranteed), he’s still at a discounted price for a big man. Additionally, second-year point guard Julyan Stone isn’t guaranteed. HoopsWorld |

Karl said Monday that three players on the Denver roster will be on the summer league team — Faried, Jordan Hamilton and Julyan Stone. "We're high on Jordan Hamilton and we think Julyan Stone can be a backup point guard in this league," Karl said. "Kenneth was our No. 1 most- valuable energized player. I don't think there's any question that I never expected him to be one of our top three players for most of the 25 to 30 final games of the season. He wasn't maybe the top minute player, but was an important part. He's going to add pieces and get better." Denver Post |

Julyan Stone’s future is up in the air, but he has plenty of options going forward. After going undrafted two months ago, the point guard has received offers from international teams, training camp invites from several NBA teams and an offer to return to the University of Texas El Paso as an assistant coach. HoopsWorld Stone received camp invites from the New York Knicks and Miami Heat prior to the lockout, and has significant interest from teams in China and Italy. One Italian team is offering him $150,000 with an NBA opt-out clause that would allow him to return to the United States whenever a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified. HoopsWorld |

In the week prior to the lockout, Stone worked out for the Miami HEAT during their free agent camp, and then flew to New York for a meeting with the Knicks' decision makers. "I met with Donnie Walsh and Allan Houston," Stone told HOOPSWORLD. "I was able to talk to pretty much everyone within the organization. I talked to Mike D'Antoni for about a half hour. It was great and I got a really good feeling there. They want to win and basically they said that they have all the scorers they need. Now, they just need people who will play defense and they feel like what I do can help their team." "They want me to come to training camp," he added. "They told me that there's going to be a lot of teams that want me to bring me in for training camp, but they said not to forget who wanted me first. They want me to talk to them before I make any decisions." HoopsWorld |

Players like Xavier Silas and Julyan Stone received invites from the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks respectively, but they know that the lockout continues to make things difficult. "Teams can't give me a 100 percent certainty because of the lockout, but once it's over I think I'll have options," said Stone. HoopsWorld |

Stone met with the Knicks on Thursday morning, and they told him not to go overseas. They want him to come to their training camp whenever the lockout ends and they told him that he'll have a legitimate chance to make their team. Stone is going to wait out the work stoppage and then see what happens during training camp. HoopsWorld |
