The Celtics held a draft workout on Wednesday with Justin Harper, Lavoy Allen, Jamie Skeen, Keith Benson, Jon Leuer, Jeremy Tyler and Frank Hassell. Matt Howard was originally scheduled for that workout but was not there for an unknown reason. The word was that Justin Harper and Lavoy Allen both played fairly well. The Hoops Report |

Now Benson prepares to embark on an NBA career. Projected as a second-round selection, the Farmington Hills native doesn't care where he ends up, but would be happy to stay local. "I'll go for the team that's most interested in me, but it'd be real special to get to stay home, in my hometown, and be close to my family," Benson said about the possibility of playing for the Detroit Pistons. Yes, after the top couple of bigs, the 2011 Draft Class doesn't offer much in terms of marquee frontcourt talent and none of those players will still be on the board when the Heat announce their first pick at No. 31 overall. Still, logic seems to indicate that Miami will at least entertain some of the remaining centers and power forwards that should be available at the start of the second round. If this tweet is any indication, it looks like one of those players is former Oakland center Keith Benson. Mid-Major Madness |

Senior Keith Benson has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for Leon Rose, announced the 6-foot-11 center on Wednesday. The two-time Summit League Player of the Year and All-American could become the first Oakland player to be taken in the NBA Draft. "I'm excited to sign with Leon Rose and the Creative Artists Agency," said Benson. "Their clients include the most celebrated actors, directors, producers, musical artists, screenwriters, authors and media personalities in the world. They also represent many of the NBA's best athletes. I feel that this is the agency through which to reach my goals." One NBA scout told the American-Statesman that Benson's size, length and shot-blocking should secure him a spot in the first round. The scout also said "he doesn't have a consistent motor," meaning he takes plays off. Though Benson is renowned for his shot-blocking, he needs to improve his on-the-ball defense and his strength. statesman.com |
