Celtics head coach Brad Stevens divulged that big man Kelly Olynyk, injured on the team's recent road trip, will miss at least another week with a sprained right ankle, and perhaps longer. Boston Celtics second-year big man Kelly Olynyk wore a protective boot over his sprained right ankle while meeting with reporters after Thursday's practice and said he's uncertain when he'll resume basketball activities while waiting for pain and swelling to subside. Olynyk injured the ankle when he landed awkwardly on the foot of Portland's Thomas Robinson chasing a rebound in last Thursday's win over the Trail Blazers. Olynyk returned home from the team's extended road trip for further testing and could be sidelined util late February, especially with an extended All-Star break looming next month. "It’s tough with something like an ankle, everyone is different," said Olynyk. "It could be a week, it could be three weeks, it could be a month -- you never know. I'm just trying to get better and evaluate it each day, and take the next step whenever it’s deemed necessary." ESPN.com

Kelly Olynyk's sprained ankle will keep him sidelined for about a month or longer according to Celtics head coach Brad Stevens. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of Boston's 90-89 win at Portland on Thursday night when Olynyk landed on the foot of Blazers forward Thomas Robinson. CSNNE.com

Stevens said Olynyk is back in Boston and will have additional tests this week to better determine the extent of his injury. "Unlikely to be available until potential right at or after the all-star break," Stevens told reporters. Stevens added, "I think it's a sprained ankle. The MRI will tell us more but he got it pretty good. It wasn't just a twist." CSNNE.com

After the Wizards’ 133-132 double-overtime win over Boston on Monday, Bob Tramonte asked Celtics center Kelly Olynyk what he wanted to do. Olynyk, who scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the loss, said he wanted pizza from the Italian Store, which has become an Arlington institution since it opened in 1980. The Italian Store was closed by the time the game ended, but that wasn’t a problem, because Tramonte is the store’s owner. His son, Michael, roomed with Olynyk at Gonzaga for a couple of years after being introduced to the former Zags star by his cousin and Olynyk’s college teammate, David Stockton. Tramonte is married to the twin sister of the wife of David’s dad, NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton. Washington Post

Tramonte is more used to seeing D.C. athletes in his store, including Nene, Stephen Strasburg and Ryan Zimmerman. Brother-in-law John Stockton has also stopped by. “I have a pretty good picture of John Stockton taking a pizza out of the oven,” said Tramonte, who met his wife, a Gonzaga alum from Fairbanks, Alaska, while she was working for the governor of Alaska’s office on Capitol Hill. “My kitchen manager is from Sicily and he said: ‘This guy would be good at making pizzas. He’s got big hands.’ ” Washington Post
