The Warriors were back to business as usual Wednesday, having clinched a playoff spot. And nothing says focused like … a rookie prank?? The Warriors, ever the loose and fun-loving bunch, continued their bonding by filling rookie Kent Bazemore’s car with popcorn. Buttered popcorn. While Bazemore was doing his post-practice work on the treadmill, his veteran teammates were pouring huge bags of popcorn into his white Audi and posing for pictures. Contra Costa Times

The Golden State Warriors have re-assigned guard/forward Kent Bazemore and assigned forward Malcolm Thomas to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League, the team announced today. Both players are slated to join Golden State’s D-League affiliate in time for the team’s home game tonight in Santa Cruz against the Reno Bighorns at Kaiser Permanente Arena (7:00 p.m. tipoff). It is unlikely rookie guard Kent Bazemore will be waived. January 10 is the day non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed. Bazemore is the only Warrior who doesn’t have a guaranteed contract and, being slightly over the luxury tax threshold, Golden State could save twice the money by releasing Bazemore before guarantee date. But a team source said the Warriors like Bazemore and thinks he has a future in this league, so he will likely have his contract guaranteed for the remainder of the year. Contra Costa Times

There is something to be said for familiarity. That’s why Kent Bazemore, this year’s unknown to emerge from Summer League, chose to sign with the Warriors. He made it official on Thursday. “Being undrafted,” Bazemore said, “you have to prove yourself anyway. I learned a lot here. I didn’t want to go into training camp having to learn a whole new system.” Contra Costa Times

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard/forward Kent Bazemore to a contract, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. NBA.com

Bazemore – a 6-foot-5, 195-pound swingman out of Old Dominion – played his way onto the Warriors roster. According to sources, he’s on the verge of signing a two-year, partially guaranteed deal for the league minimum. HoopsHype first reported the deal. To be sure, his deal has a “very low” guarantee, one source said, which means if the Warriors decide to cut Bazemore it won’t cost them very much. But here is how you know how well Bazemore played: the Warriors signed him despite not really having a place to play. Contra Costa Times

The signing of Bazemore won’t impact the Warriors’ ability to sign re-sign swingman Brandon Rush AND sign one more free agent. Golden State is still waiting to sign second-round pick Draymond Green, who’s been guaranteed a roster spot. He’ll come after they sign their last free agent and he may take up part of the mid-level exception. Contra Costa Times

St. John's Moe Harkless is the most intriguing prospect among the five-player group working out for the Warriors on Sunday. There was some talk about the group including Washington's Terrence Ross, but he wasn't on the list issued by the team. The other four are Kent Bazemore (ODU), Matt Gatens (Iowa), Augustus Gilchrist (S. Florida) and Drew Viney (LMU). Sulia
