HoopsHype Kevin Martin rumors
The hits just keep coming for the Timberwolves: An MRI taken today shows starting shooting guard Kevin Martin fractured his wrist in Wednesday's victory over New York. He is listed as out indefinitely and will be re-evaliated in the coming days to determine whether he'll need surgery. The team said he broke his right wrist midway through Wednesday's first quarter. That's his shooting wrist, of course. You might recall he went on to score a season-high 37 points that night. Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin received a warning from the league for violating the NBA's ant-flopping during a November 5 road game against the Brooklyn Nets, the league's website announced on Thursday. The incident in question came with just under eight minutes left in the third quarter, when Bojan Bogdanovic's hand made brief contact with Martin's shoulder mid-jump shot. The video can be seen here. Martin landed and fell sideways, prompting a foul call on Bogdanovic that awarded Martin two foul shots. He made both, evening the score at 54. The Nets went on to lose, however, 98-91. Sports Illustrated
Ray Richardson: #Twolves coach Flip Saunders expects to play 10 or 11 guys Tuesday at Indiana. No Kevin Martin (groin), who did light work on side Monday. Twitter @twolvesnow
Sam Amick: Yes, folks. Kevin Martin was kidding. "Just had to break the ice of media day with a good laugh!" he says in text - ftw.usatoday.com/2014/09/kevin-… Twitter @sam_amick
Sam Amick: More Martin: "No way anybody in my press conference believed I was serious." I blame @Jerry Zgoda for this silliness - ftw.usatoday.com/2014/09/kevin-… Twitter @sam_amick
Flip Saunders: We’ve got a Kevin Martin, a Mo Williams, a Corey Brewer, Thaddeus Young, [Nikola] Pekovic. We have guys who have had success at every position and they’ll help bring the young guys along. But if anyone thinks our veteran players are just going to let younger players take their minutes, that ain’t going to happen. This is a business. You’ve got to earn what you get. And whatever you earn, that’s what you’re going to get. Minneapolis Star-Tribune
