Jazz General Manager Kevin O’Connor would not discuss Bell’s buyout when recently asked about the situation during Summer League in Orlando, Fla. But a league source confirmed Monday the Jazz have officially offered Bell a buyout. He has refused to accept the deal, though, delaying an already long-delayed process. Salt Lake Tribune

Fear not, Jazz fans. GM Kevin O'Connor is exploring ways to move up in the draft. They have the Warriors' pick in 2013 (top-six-protected) and veterans like Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson and Devin Harris, and they might even be willing to add another young player (as long as you don't ask for Derrick Favors or Enes Kanter). The question is, how high can they go? Their presumed target is Weber State's Lillard. They need a point guard and know him better than any team in the league. But if they could get higher and get an even better prospect, they would. They like Beal and Kidd-Gilchrist a lot, too. ESPN.com

There had been some confusion on this issue. But Carroll emerged from his exit interview with the team confident that he will remain with the organization for next season. "He should be confident," O'Connor said. "He did a lot of good things for us this year. He hustled, he played defense and he provided a spark." Salt Lake Tribune

O'Connor downplayed the possibility of the Jazz making a trade to get into the first round: "Everybody is going to be asking for the moon and the stars." Referring to Utah's young nucleus of Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks and Enes Kanter, O'Connor said. "... We've got four lottery picks from the last two years. So unless we find something we really like, we really don't want to disturb things too much." Salt Lake Tribune

NBA trades in May are a rarity, but the Golden State Warriors are trying to swing one with the Utah Jazz before Wednesday's draft lottery, according to sources briefed on the talks. The Warriors, sources said, are attempting to complete a deal with the Jazz that ensures Golden State's lottery pick in June will stay in the Bay Area under any circumstances. ESPN.com

One source with knowledge of the discussions described the chances of a trade by Wednesday as "likely." Yet it remains to be seen whether the teams can agree to a deal without involving current players, as Golden State apparently prefers. ESPN.com
